  • Steak Marinade?

Does anyone know of a good steak marinade that is safe for induction? I looked at my bottle of teriyaki and it's got carbs and sugar. I'm not sure what else I can use. Any ideas?

    Thanks!!

Kikkoman brand soy sauce has no added sugar and 0g carb per serving. Other brands (La Choy is one) have added sugar. You can marinate your steaks in a mixture of no-sugar added soy sauce and olive oil. If you like it a little sweeter, just add some splenda to the marinade.

Voila! Easy, cheap, awesome, and low-carb.

I use sugar free Italian dressing or Kens Caeser. Yummy!

I use my Kraft Carb Friendly Italian dressing as well as my marinade... It works well to give some cheaper steak cuts a good flavor.

Oh! I forgot to mention that when I do the soy sauce marinade, I add ginger (the dried spice in the shaky container) and garlic powder as well. Makes it better.

Only if it has no added sugars.
You need to check the list of ingredients for stuff like glucose syrup and corn syrup too, as sugar has many aliases!

I seem to be getting a lot of conflicting information on this board! There was an older thread that I read about not allowing soy sauce until the legume rung...

I have a bottle that contains water, soybean, wheat & salt. So I am thinking the wheat & soybean would make it non induction friendly? For some reason I was thinking that the only allowable soy product was soy cheese which Dr.A specifically included on his list...

Wow, Sheila, I am so impresssed with you on many levels!!!

You are right, kjspea - if those are the ingredients then it is not 'legal' till the grains rung of OWL.
My only excuse is that it is not a product I use, so I was not aware of the ingredients

Well done for checking the ingredients and questioning my response

                          Re: Steak Marinade?

There is a product in the health food stores called Braggs liquid aminos that is soy but not wheat and it is very low in carbs. It tastes very similar to soy sauce. I am not sure what happened to them, but A1 was making a low carb sauce as was CarbWell and Atkins had Teriyaki sauce, but maybe they aren't making it any more.

If you mix a little lemon juice with some braggs and a splenda packet, you could have a 2 carb marinade that would be considered acceptable on induction.
