  • Hey guys

Ive been reading these forums for a while now and have been taking notes and just soaking up all the information i can get, and i just wanted to thank you all for the advise you have given.

Today I started my first day on the change of a lifetime, ive smoked since i was 13 and quit at 22. Losing weight was the next step in my life and im ready. So hopefull i will be able to do this thing and drop some weight.

I currently weigh about 370 and im 6'4 and 24 years old. I want to get to about 250 i have a large bone structure and some muscle so i think this would be an ideal weight.

I am planning on doing the extended induction till i get to the weight that i want. Is this ok ? I am not a junk food craver but i do love my breads. im just a lazy eater, finding what ever is easiest to get ahold of. So I think this will work out well for me, especially since i can eat all the pork skins that i want ! woot ! But anyways, Thanks once again... ive always been a fat kid i want to be on the other side of the fence

    Re: Hey guys

Hey there, Haxored Welcome to ADBB. I'm really glad you found us!

It's okay to follow an extended induction for upwards of 6 months, but I'm not an advocate AT ALL of staying there until you reach goal. The steps to this WOE were put in place for a reason, and the biggest part of that reason is to teach you to include more foods and climb the carb ladder so that you MAINTAIN the weight you've removed and learn to eat for a LIFETIME. I won't even go into the artificially low carb tolerances you have potential to build for yourself by staying too low for too long - it's a debate for another time

You're allowed pork skins, but *not* all that you want. You're best off to stick to no more than 1-2oz a day - and it shouldn't be an every day thing either. That's a *lot* of sodium!

Fail to plan and the plan will fail. It'll take some work, patience, and dilligence on your part, but you can do it and we're here to help!

Again...Welcome to ADBB. We hope to see less of you

        Re: Hey guys

well first welcome to ADBB and to Atkins

second if you haven't already get a copy of DR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION 2002 edition and read it cover to cover.

When you see the part about eating your induction too high protein that is you today. Protein intake should be about 30% of your total cals with fats making up 65%. Atkins is a ketogenic plan ( that means fat burning ad primary fuel source) so eat a bit less protein and a bit more fat at each meal and you should be okay.

Another thing imatation cheese is not allowed. look for real cheese fitday lists it as cheddar or american.

you are a cup of veggies low too for the day those 3 cups of veggies are a ver important nutriant part of your Atkins.

What you doing for the mandatory exercise part of your Atkins? join onme of our opwen enrollment exercise challenges for some help and motivastion to stick to it.

Like Brook said we are learning and practicing what we learn every day a whole new way of eating. think of it as your house of Atkins that you are building as you go Induction is the foundation so take your time and make sure you use quality materials and workmanship getting it right. Then you need to spend a great deal of time in OWL framing your house with all the different types of timbers from those 9 rungs. you want to know how your metabolism reacts to each and you want to be testing those timber foods in a very controlled manner so OWL is the place to do it while you got appetite suppression and blood sugar control. you do not want to find out at goal that say nuts trigger blood sugar swings for you and poof you are off on a binge. Work hard on that framing and don't foerget the roofing trusses of premaintnenace so your house of Atkins is ready to move in wioth some finishing work at maintenance and will noit be like 9 out of 10 floks houses and come crashing down on them sending them on a journey regaining all that weight they lost.

        Happy low carbing.

Welcome and congratulations for refusing to put poisen in your lungs any longer.

Now you will refuse to put a different kind of poisen in your stomach and you are going to feel great.
