  • No wine!!!! very difficult! help!

    Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all doing well

I have a problem. I don't normally drink but recently when i put my 14 month old to bed i have had a glass of wine. I want to go back on induction but i'm finding i'm having terrible sugar cravings and really fancy a glass of wine as it's lovely weather and i feel i could do with one after a tough day (does that sound really bad? ).

Don't really know what you could possibly advise but wanted to share and ask anywayas i don't know anyone in real-time that would understand .

    Thank you, Annabel

oh honey I can empathise because I love wine, hated giving it up for induction... to have a glass in the pm is such a nice end to a busy day...however ..you are on induction ..and that is a choice not a mandate...so when you are ready and want to move on ..do it ..but do it by the book and it will be worth it in the end ..each step is in place for a reason and the reason is ..to reteach yourself ... the wine will be back ..trust me

I love wine, and beer for that matter. I've found that the sacrifice of not having a drink for a few weeks was well worth it.

slimjimgirl - While on induction, you might like taking some KavaKava (herb) at night instead of the wine = it "produces a calming soothing sense of well being." Also some of the Celestial Seasonings teas are good - "Mood Mender," "Sleepy Time," and/or "Tension Tamer."

I love rum & diet cola! I'm so glad that eventuallly I can have a drink or two on this plan without blowing the whole thing. I want what they are calling a clean induction, so I'll hold off till later on the rum and another plus is when I do have a drink, I'll get tipsy on less! (Cheap date - ha ha ha!)

I am restarting induction today after a good 15-18 months or so off Atkins. No Wine is going to be my largest hurdle as well. I have convinced myself that it is worth it to give up wine 100% in the short term for the great long term results that weight loss brings.

I cannot remember the last time that I went 2 weeks without either wine or beer. It had to the the first time I did Atkin's in 2002.

Stick to induction 100% and don't give in to wine. It will WELL be worth it.

When craving/wanting something you definately have to take it a day at a time. As Induction is so strict there isnt really a 'treat' that you can replace it with. Maybe have some cheese in the evening? Or have a bath instead or read a book? Do something to take ur mind off the craving.

All I can advise is to bear with it and take it 1 day at a time. In a few weeks you will definately reap the rewards for staying off the booze!!

Angelstar's suggestion of finding an alternative 'treat' is a good one. A bit of luxurious pampering like a good long bath with some aromatic candles might take your mind off the wine.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Thank you for all of your support and fab replies! I have been doing induction properly without a single blip for 4 days!!!

Some of you are amazing! i can't believe how well you are all doing! I did atkins 4 years ago and lost 4 stone and kept it off and loved the diet and the way it made me feel but after having a baby i seem to have lost all will power!

Can i ask? where do you get the things you have along the bottom that count the weight loss?

Thank you again xxxxx Annabel xxxx.

There are several sites you can go to
www.tickerfactory.com is one and I think www.3fatchicks.com is another.
There you can enter your data and choose a 'tape' and a 'marker' and be given a web address (url) to post as an image in your signature so it shows at the bottom of each post automatically.

Hi there, I love cabernet, it is my fav alcoholic drink. However, it is crucial not to drink. Your body burns the alcohol instead of fat and getting into ketosis and staying there is very important. Good luck!
