  • Couple of questions of things on food list

What is Essence-flavored seltzer (must say "no calories" and should not contain aspartame)

Cheese: full-fat, firm, soft and semi-soft aged cheeses
How do I know what cheeses are acceptable or fit into this category? It lists some cheeses, but I'm guessing it doesn't list every acceptable cheese. I know feta is not listed, but people said feta was okay on induction. I'm

    Thanks

    Week 1 (6/21-6/27)
    1. Drink at least 1 gallon plain water daily
    2. Try at least 3 new recipes (this will be tough-I always prepare things the same-this will encourage me to try things differently and include foods that are different for me)
    3. Try at least 5 new foods on acceptable foods list (this will also be tough being that I only have a set food list of about 10 things I eat)
    4. Begin exercising by walking everyday.
    5. Take a before picture of myself

check how a cheese is made and you will know.aged is the key.

fresh cheese other then cream cheese isn't like farmers, yogurt, ricottia, and cottage cheese aren't because of thier higher lactose levles.

    most others are.

I would go by the cheeses listed on page 125 of the book ONLY while you're on induction.

the rule is 4 ounces of full fat aged cheese if you read page 125 heading for the listed cheeses it says cheeses like not only these cheeses.

Essence waters are the flavored waters (usually fruit flavored), you'll want to look for the ones made with Splenda. You can ONLY have them in addition to plain water, not instead of it.

Cheese: If it's a hard cheese you can slice, you'll be fine. I used both feta and blue cheese while on induction.

This is a terrific website about food. If you click onto the "Fresh Cheeses" link, you'll see what "fresh cheeses" are and therefore will be able to avoid them during Induction. But note, this site lists cream cheese as a "fresh cheese". However, cream cheese is okay for Induction.

            http://www.foodsubs.com/FGDairy.html

Fresh cheeses tend to have a higher carb count. If you'll notice, many brands of cream cheese have carb counts of 2 sometimes 3 net carbs per ounce. Philadelphia brand cream cheese has the lowest.
