  • Important question

I'm 5'8" male, started at 190lbs and I've lost 23 lbs in 7 weeks. Exercise was also in my program.

However, on the end of the 7th week, I cheated and ate bananas, oranges, lychees, oatmeal and brown rice and I had it for 3days without any protein and fats. I began to feel weak, dizzy, tingling on my arm and legs, and a slight migraine headache.

I stopped doing this and went back to atkins again - I had vegetables, minced meat, omellete, virgin coconut oil and flaxseed oil. Suddenly, my energy went back and all those symptoms gone.

What's wrong with me? I am not diabetic, and my blood pressure taken on Feb was 130/80, and 120/80 last year.

Is this what you call a blood sugar spike? If yes, how do you get rid of this?

    Please advice.

    Thanks.

It could be a number of things from food intolerance/allergy to carb sensitivity.

Diabetes is a broad term nowadays and there is a category called "pre-Diabetes". http://www.diabetes.org/pre-diabetes.jsp

    Editing to add...

I was a vegan for a while and I know it's not wise to eat unbalanced meals. If you wish to be more vegetarian, then please do your health a favor and eat balanced diets. Proteins, fats and carbs are important for your health.

      Re: Important question

It sounds like too much too soon, and not2late's right about having food intolerance issues.

You've done an amazing job dropping 23 pounds in 7 weeks. I hope you read up on the carb ladder, pre-maintainence, and maintainence will work for you in adding those types of foods back into your daily diet.

      Best wishes

          Re: Important question

Another question, after eating those for 3 days, should I go back to the induction stage? The headaches gone, but I do feel dizzy and slight weakness and I just want to lie down and rest.

According to DNDR, food intolerances mimics the items found on the "Blood Sugar Symptoms Test". I took the test and I scored 24 which is negative for blood sugar stress.

          What's the next step?

          Thank you!

            Re: Important question

usually after you "cheat", and you did it for 3 days, I understood is better to go back to Induction to requilibrate your body, but I'm sure there a lot of people with more experience who will answer better to you
            Anyway Great Job!!! Congrats!

              Re: Important question

Also, don't forget water! Often people think they are tired or feeling light headed, simply because of what they have eaten. Often it is the absence of proper hydration that causes that "tired" or light headed feeling.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.
