I've never been good at writing things down. Maybe I never really wanted to see the reality of what I was actually eating...makes it too real. Probably should though at some point. Right now, Im just following the guidelines of induction, so I know that those are the things I am eating. Later though, it may be an issue and I will need to write things down to ensure I am staying within the expected carb #.
Glad its working for you....

Yes, I find it is the only way to keep myself accountable. I bought a diary for the year and put all my food, exercise and other things that affect weight (TOM, work things, moods etc) in it. I also have made myself a great excel spreadsheet with weekly weight and how much lost per week and cumulative, plus a chart of weight loss by week and month.

I write down my menu daily, as well as using fitday. I'm still on induction, but it helps keep me on track and remember what I've already eaten.

That's excellent! I made some sheets that I write my food on, but it would be great to keep a diary with everything in it. I can sure see how that would help. Sounds like I'll be diary shopping. And I never thought about a spreadsheet. I'll just have to see what I can do there too.
logging your foods can be so very helpful should you get a triggering food. Many of us have very legal Atkins foods that trigger cravings and/or blood sugar issues. Keeping track of the foods allows us to see the pattern of foods and problems so we can eleminate the foods or brands giving us issues.
I've been using Fitday.com for almost 2 years now almost compulsively. It totally helps keep me on track.

I used Fitday for the first year or so. It was GREAT to see my weight loss in nice, neat, graphical form going down! Plus, in the beginning it was a lifesaver if I couldn't remember how much cheese or veggies I had already eaten.
I don't use it so much now, now that I'm so familiar with the foods I can kind of mentally keep track. I still like to log my weight and exercise on there, though.

Yeah.. Ive used fitday for nearly 2 years now, off and on, depending on if I was dieting or not. It's pretty cool, and I find that if I plan out what I'm eating, I can go ahead at the beginning of the day and enter everything I plan to eat for the day. That way I can see where I might need to cut back, or if I have leeway to eat a little more.
Yeah, after you use it for a while, you start to know what you can and can't have and in what quantities. For a first timer though I think it is indispensable.
