  • Fast food meat patties?

Ok I am new to this and have had conflicting information given to me. I have looked at fitday and cant tell either...but I was told during the first 14 days I could eat any meat, any cheese and thats pretty much what I have done.....but most of what I have eaten has been hamburger patties, some from home and some from burger king, jack in a box etc....What about ketchup? Mustard? Also are green beens on the ok list? I am looked at the approved foods but it seems vague to me...any help appreciated...i did lose about 5 pounds in the first week but nothing so far this week. I also havent had a good bowel movement so that might by why I havent lost any more weight....too much cheese i guess...(string cheese and colby cheese)

okay first green beans are string beans on the acceptable veggies lists.

since your bowels aren't moving taks some steps now to help by adding one of the approved fibers like flax seed meal, wheat bran and/or psyllium to your day per rule 12 chaptewr 11 of DANDR.

next the meat patties at the major hamberger chains are fine. if you order somewhere else ask them what is in the patties.

Ketchup is out. yellow mustard and mayo are okay.

remember we are supposed tio eat all 3 cups of veggies every day as the majority odf our daily intake of carbs should come from those veggies.

    happy low carbing

Thanks. I ordered the book from amazon, it just hasnt come in yet.

So i guess I am doing things pretty good. I have only eaten meat, cheese, green beans, brocolli, jello, eggs and a tad bit of ketchup but mostly mayo for the past 10 days...I do need to get some fiber in me...Not eating bread has been the toughest part for me as I am a big bread, roll, tortilla guy but I have been able to do it for 10 days.....I would think by just cutting out the bread I would lose quite a bit, I never counted carbs but from bread alone I am sure I was racking them up...I am down about 8 pounds and looking to lose another 15.

BTW just as background, I am 6'2" started at 220 pds....down to 213...would like to get to 195. I am a former college baseball player so I used to be pretty active..I finished 6 years ago and since then i have gotten an office job which has killed a lot of my time. Trying to get back into shape and atkins seemed like a good way to do it. So far so good. Thanks again

The packets of sauces at the fast food places almost always have sugar of some kind in them, as does what they put on the burgers. Try to look at every label on foods you are considering, including dressings and beverages. You will find things like modified starch, fructose syrup, glucose, ***-ose any variety is sugar. Starch any variety becomes sugar in your mouth. Also watch out for caffeine, and limit your cheese to no more than 4 oz.

You can look here for specific fast food nutrition info: http://www.dietfacts.com/fastfood.asp
The carbs depending on the kind of meat patty (beef, chicken sausage) varies but is generally 1 or 0. On the other hand, the frozen TV-dinner variey tend to be dangerous! (Banquet chicken patty for instance has 10)

            yep get those veggies in.

As a former jock you know how important exercise is so even with your office job you can get some free exercise park in the back of the lot, take the stairs, walk on your lunch time, exercise your arms and legs while sitting at your desk, us the farthest away bathroom copier etc ( you will have to go fast to not be accused of wasting company time too and get even better free exercise). If you look you will be surprized how many opertunities there are for exercise.

go to the companies own web site and build your burger then let it compute it for you. If your chain doesn't have that they will have nutrtional info for all their foods and you can add up your ingredients.
