  • Forgive me, for I have sinned

Hey.. I'm new to this board, and I feel the need to confess what I did last night.
I started induction last Monday, so it's been nearly two weeks since I started. I picked up a copy of the book at a used bookstore, read it, and off I went.

I'd been doing great (I weighed myself this morning and I'm down fifteen pounds!! In 10 days!!), no cheating, threw out all my bad foods, etc. I was so proud.

Last night, I went out with a friend and had a beer. That's right, a beer. Not even a light beer, not even a low-carb beer, a full-fledged, nasty, carb-laden dark beer. I only had one, and I haven't cheated at all until then. Had my normal water, bacon and eggs for breakfast. But still, I feel so guilty.

I'm already planning to extend my induction to July 14 (my birthday!), so I guess that will somewhat make up for it.

Now... you guys should totally bash me and make me feel bad about myself so I won't do it again!

Auntiesocial, I don't think anyone is going to bash you because we have all made mistakes and it looks as if you are doing all the right things and while you should feel guilty about it you also know that you have to get back on track not and make a better choice next time. Good luck and Welcome to ADBB

No one is going to bash you to smithereens. :P

But just get back on the wagon, and it sounds like you already are. Don't beat yourself up, just say...I am better and stronger and I can beat this.

......I started Atkins last year, and went from 185 to 154 via induction, and then kind of stopped. Basically stuff started happening and my WOE got pushed to the wayside. But I never forgot how it worked and the ideas behind it and I had a lifelong guide about what was good and safe to eat and what was bad bad bad.

I went and looked at these awesome boards again just two weeks ago (finally), and realized what I had done was go into maintainance. I had added a couple of things to my diet but always the low carb versions of it, like bread, cereal, diet sodas, fruit as goodies.

I have stayed the same weight since I went into maintainance and kept it all off for an entire year, give or take a few weeks.

Yes I messed up a few times, and ate that donut or piece of birthday cake, but I always felt bad right after, and *always* got back on the wagon. I would eat right for days after my boo boos and correct my eating.

Now it's summer again, and I am tired of looking at this little tummy I have, and I am going back on induction to kickstart my weightloss. I want to look SEXXY this summer! So far I have lost 5 pounds, dropping me to 150.

Basically, this diet WORKS. Get back on the wagon and you will be SOOOO happy with yourself when you get to this point. Believe me, it's worth it!

      Love, Sarah

Hey auntie, pick yourself up, and make sure you get back on track. Try to think what happened to cause this and think about developing strategies to cope when things happen.

I wouldn't sweat that toooo much. Just pick up and keep on keepin on! I got to my 2 weeks in the beginning and slipped and ate potatoes (on purpose...well, they were there and I ate them). Anyway, I started my induction again and did it clean and then moved on to OWL and haven't looked back since. Believe me, in the grand scheme of things your beer wasn't as bad as my potatoes, and look at the photos below!! Good job on the loss you've already have and looking forward to all the weight you are going to lose as you continue on!

Hey there! I agree with NOt2Late...prepare yourself for situations where you will be tempted to cheat. While it is not the end of the world...it does undermine your efforts. Why work so hard for two weeks or more just to throw it away for a beer? It sounds like you are already back on plan and doing great. You've already done so well!
