  • worried about weight loss and skin elasticity

    Hi all,

I'm just mailing to ask about loosing weight too fast and the skin not being able to go back as quick and get baggy.

I am 12 and a bit stone and i have lost qite a bit i think as some of my clothes are fitting that were too small! but i haven't weighed myself yet.

My middle however is not as tight and looks baggy and horrid just now. I am however still loosing the weight i gained after having my baby (15 months ago!!!!! ha ha ha) So that could be another reason.

Just wanted to know what you all thought?

Thank you and good luck everyone!

    Love Annabel x

I've always heard the slower you gain and the slower you lose any weight will dramatically decrease that "flabbiness" you're seeing. With that said, who wants to lose slow, right? LOL

Exercising is helping me. I started swimming recently and boy does it tone your body up fast! Nothing I like more than "instant" results".

    Good luck

Re: worried about weight loss and skin elasticity

Your skin does have some elasticity. So it will be able to "bounce back" to an extent. Make sure you are doing your exercises: cardio exercises like running or walking will remove the fat and strength/resistance exercises will help tone those ab muscles.

Re: worried about weight loss and skin elasticity

I think it depends from body to body and age to age. I have loose skin and lots of stretch marks on my belly that I doubt will ever go away, but I started out at 322 lbs, and a 52" waist, so that could be why.

Re: worried about weight loss and skin elasticity

I agree it depends on each person. I am 44 and well over 100 pounds over weight. I'm not expecting to go back to the body I had at 19 even when I get down to goal weight. Oh yeah and I had a baby at 41 years old. No way I'm getting back into a bikini. LOL But I am not worried I think on this woe we lose slow enough that the skin has time to adjust not like bariatric surgery where you lose so fast the skin cannot keep up and you end up with all that extra skin.

This is one of my greatest fears, especially since I can't imagine ever having the money for plastic surgery.
