  • Parmesan Spinach Artichoke Dip INDUCTION FRIENDLY !!!

Well , At least so I believe !!!

I want to share this with you all since this this like my 4 day into induction and WOW can i just say I am excited !!

I found this great parmesan artichoke dip at costco and I couldnt believe my eyes when i saw carbs are less than 1 g per serving.

So, like you all said I went ahead and checked the label and the ingredients were as simple as parmesan, spinach, artichoke hearts , water and sour cream basically.

SO, i believe it IS INDEED induction friendly and bought it, mixed some shrimp in it and put it under the broiler for like 15 minutes ...

CAN YOU SAY YUMMMY ?????????? A very rich and decadent dish

Ohhh but i have a quick question, since we are allowed whipped cream i was wondering exactly how much , i think like 3 tbl spoons but does anyone know for sure ?

    Thanks

I eat this all the time as a side dish. But I make mine (super easy)

    Artichoke-Spinach Casserole

1 pound frozen spinach (either whole leaf or cut)
    1 can artichoke hearts
1 clove garlic chopped or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1/2 cup mayonnaise
    1/2 cup sour cream
    3 ounces parmesan cheese, grated

Combine the mayo, sour cream, garlic and 2 ounces of the parmesan cheese together in a bowl.

Defrost the spinach and squeeze out as much of the liquid that you can. Put into the bowl with the mayo mixture.

Slice the artichoke hearts and put in the with the mayo mixture. Blend until well combined. Pour into a greased/buttered overproof dish. Top with the remaining 1 ounce of cheese. Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

You can also cook this in the microwave. Use a microwave safe container and microwave the casserole for about 5 minutes on HIGH power or until it's hot and bubbly.

heavy cream is limited to 2-3 tablespoons daily. However it's also listed in the Special Category Foods at 3 fluid ounces daily. But the Special Category foods are "special" because they can cause weight loss problems in some people.

Awwwwww Thank you so much for answering Not2late

I was wondering what i was doing wrong since noone wants to give me a reply on my posts ever ... Lol

U know i havent been loosing any weight and i have been on induction almost a week now.

I am going to post a thread about that in the other forum , but since u seem to have lost so much on this atkins ( AND I AM SUCH A NEWBIE )

Maybe I can ask you as well. IS there a minimum daily calorie intake ?

Because sometimes during induction i wouldnt even get hungry and come at aroun 800 or only 1000 calories.

However i did follow the ratio we are supposed to keep and i eat like 4 times a day.

i am just so frustrated. I need some help

        Hi Bellezza

There is no minimum calorie intake laid down. Just eat when you are hungry and of amounts that fulfill your hunger, but make sure you eat at least every 6 hours.

If you find you are not eating a lot then maybe concentrate on some of the higher carb veggies so you are not just having lettuce which has little nutrition.

Also make sure you are taking your supplements as suggested by Dr Atkins.

You didnt say how much weight you are hoping to lose - we expect to lose between 5% and 10% of our hopedfor loss in the 14 days of induction if we are of average metabolism.

However not everyone loses vast numbers of pounds in those two weeks - one of our former admins lost absolutely nothing on induction but once she moved to the main weightloss phase of Atkins (OWL) she lost steadily and reached goal with no problems.

Our bodies have their own timetable and will lose weight in their own manner!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Awwww thanks Ellizellen so much for your reply !!!

I was really starting to wonder what was going on with my body. after hearing all the success stories i thought maybe i am doing something wrong , but i double tripple checked and I was doing everything like i was supposed to.

the only thing i could think of was the low calorie intake but i always thought that might even help me to loose the weight. hmmmmmmmmm ohhh well , i guess i am going to hang in there for a couple of more days to see what is going to happen.

i got excited yesterday because i went to dennys and i was able to have some buffalo wings ... i never thought that could be considered diet food ! Haha

But i will try to go into extended induction and maybe I will be able to loose some weight then ! ahhh i really hope I do !

Wish me luck and thanks so much for your reply.

ohh the reason i asked about the daily calorie intake was because i read somewhere on here that the more fat you eat , the more you burn.

and even though my fat ratio is usually in the upper sixties, or even 70's i just couldnt keep the daily calories as high as everyone else.

and thats why i was wondering if that might interfere with weightloss ?

Ohh and I am currently 186 and was hoping to loose around 50 lbs

WOWWWWWW what a LONNNNNNNNNG way to go !!

Bellezza, that sounds delicious!!! Being a newbie, I am always looking for something different. Been slowly putting my family on low carb, too. They've been resistant, but I figure if low carb is healthier, then I need to be concerned for them, too. Delicious meals, snacks, etc. will surely win them over.
