    Re: Atkins shake

I'm no personal fan of any of the Atkins shakes or bars because I don't believe they are for everyone and they can cause a deficiency on teaching a person how to eat (and cook) on this way of eating.

That being said, I would say give Induction without the shakes/bars and enjoy the fresh foods of meats, proteins, and veggies while you watch the weight disappear.

    Best wishes on your journey.

      Re: Atkins shake

While Dr. Atkins did endorse his line of products, they were not really shoved in our faces until after he died, and there are a lot more of them now. After Dr. Atkins died, more emphasis was put on making the big bucks. AKA selling product. It's called making money - what every corporation wants.

No, you don't need to start over. It's just that it's better to avoid these unnatural foods.

Someone else who had major success on Atkins told me that there was a major difference between the Atkins Advantage and the Atkins Endulge bars...with the former being better for you. I was told that that Endulge bars are sweet and have a tendency to increase sugar cravings. Don't know a lot about the drinks....

          Re: Atkins shake

As with all processed foods we need to read the ingredients list as well as any claims to be lowcarb!!

Look at all the ingredients in the shake (or bars) and if ALL its ingredients appear on the allowed list of induction-legal foods then it is allowed on induction.

However this will not mean that your body can absorb them and still lose weight at its best rate! One of those YMMV (your mileage may vary) things oyu will need to discover for yourself.

However I will be amazed if any of the bars are 'induction-legal' and do not contain nuts, fruit, soya, wheat, starches etc!!!

A long while back we did have a member who was adamant that his/her chosen bar WAS allowed and was challenged to post the ingredients of the bar that was 'legal' for induction but never came back on that idea!!

So save them till you reach the rung of OWL where all the ingredients are allowed and see how your body copes with their use.

Atkins own company website did have a Q&A page a while back where the possibility of the products causing weightloss 'hesitations' was addressed and their response was that 'if' they affected your own weightloss you should limit their use or consider dropping them!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
