  • Confessions of a backslider...back to square 1!

Well...after a brief and successful first week on atkins, I fell off big time! Felt I needed to confess, as I received sooooo much support and encouragement from you all that.
Was very sick with a stomach virus at the end of my 1st week of induction...began the typical and fabricated "sick person regimen" of chicken noodle soup, saltine crackers, 7-up...the whole bit. One good thing was my weight remained the same because of the limited food intake but once I began to feel better and my appetite increased, I resorted to heavier carbs and just went downhill from that point on. Completely negating my 10 lb. loss from the 1st week of induction.
I am now done with that and back on track as of right now but very afraid to get on the scale. I can see in my body that things have gotten round and bloated again. Even husband noticed ("your stomachs startin' to stick out again") I will weight myself in the morning for an accurate weight and will post in the a.m. (Lord have mercy!)

I'm so sorry you were sick. Glad you're feeling better and getting back on track, though.

There's a few things I learned about getting the flu (the real thing, or any stomach virus), is what to keep on hand for "eating" during these times. Chicken stock, or broth, along with diet 7up or diet sprite or even club soda are a few things I keep handy.

      Best wishes on your journey

At least you caught yourself before it got too bad! Good job! As long as you get right back on the bike you'll be fine. Success is still at hand so don't be angry at yourself and just look at it as a learning experience. No looking back and no regrets! Good luck with the rest of your weight loss.

Your post was actually very encouraging to me as a newbie....thanks for being so honest! I know that should I "slip" (and I'm not planning to), that I should not wallow in self-pity, but pick myself up and deny those carbs! You've set a fine example for others who may fall into this situation...I commend you!

Thanks for the support. I know what I have to do and just get back to doing it! Frustrated that I have to restart the 1st week over, but I made the mistake of falling off...have to pay the consequence and just move on! Thanks again for the support and encouragement!
