  • 2 week induction over... totals are....

I have lost a total of 11 lbs!

I gave my kids a five pound bag of sugar and told them that mommy has lost two of these!

We went camping over the weekend. I DID NOT CHEAT! I have really determined that I am not going to cheat. I sat with a plate of graham crackers, chocolate bars and marshmallows on my lap with my family sticking toasted marshmallows in my face for me to make the smores - I had melted chocolate and marshmallow goo on my fingers and I didn't lick them.

I enjoyed lobster and clams with butter on Sunday... So good! Steak and salad one night, Cheeseburgers one night. Also, I started my TOM this weekend so I was hesitant to step on the scale but I did. So after a week, my weight will reflect this (hopefully).

Today will be a challenge for me, We go to a huge party at the lake with my family, there is a Carb-attack buffet filled with pasta dishes, sauced meat, etc... Followed by a dessert buffet with at least 15 different desserts on it. But I WILL NOT CHEAT!

I will check in later - thanks to you all for all of your support!

Congratulations!! You did fantastic. It gets easier as time goes by. Instead of dreading the foods you can't eat, make substitutions of Atkins Friendly meals (in recipe section) such as pizza (crustless), chips (pepperoni or cheese), noodles (squash strips, egg), potatoes (cauliflower). I make Atkins friendly versions and my family now likes my food better than theirs.

So proud of you. Keep up the great attitude!!

Congrats on the weight loss! Plus, I have to say that you have incredible willpower! Way to go! If you can resist smores being stuck in your face, you can handle that party!

WOOOO HOOOOOO, good for you. While the 11 pounds is impressive, your avoidance of the S'mores is awesome.

I second Dreamof145's suggestion to prepare legal foods to take to any buffets and get togethers, so you have something you CAN eat.

If for any reason that is not possible make an effort to eat well before you go so you can enjoy the company and atmosphere without having to eat anything off-plan, and say truthfully - 'I am not hungry!'
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: 2 week induction over... totals are....

Well, I made it through the party! I forgot to bring my hamburger patty, so I was left to fend for myself through the buffet line.
This is what I had: Brocolli picked out of a pasta salad, leaf lettuce dressed with sour cream, 5 little meatballs (my friend made these and told me that they had 1/2 sleeve of saltines in the whole batch - a crock pot full - so I know that there were carbs in this but they were very low) I also had some cheese, a buffalo chicken wing and a grilled chicken wing - no sauce. I walked right past everything else. My plate was not as full as everyone else's at my table, but I was completely satisified.
I brought my own dessert of sugar free jello whipped with a little sugar free cool whip and frozen. It tasted just like Ice cream to me! I was handing out bites to anyone who wanted to try and everyone said... "this is sugar free?" and thought it was really good. I only wanted to cheat once - my friend made key lime pie, but I stayed STRONG, and didn't even try. I know that if I can make it past smores and the July 4th party, I can resist temptation in ANY situation. I WILL NOT CHEAT!!
Check in with you all later!

Re: 2 week induction over... totals are....

I think that I will stay in induction for at least a couple more weeks. I have so much to lose, I really feel great, my clothes are really starting to get loose (the shorts I wore yesterday to the party - I cannot wear again as they are too big and I was hiking them up all day) I really want to wear that special dress to the wedding in October so I will plug away in Induction. Really not feeling deprived, so it won't be a problem.

Thanks again for all of the support!

Congrats, Jill! Your weight loss is encouraging. I can't waiting until 7/15 to weight myself when my 14 day period is over! I commend you for making it through induction. I actually joined this board in 2004 and lasted 2 days before giving up. I'm on day 5 now so I've beat my old record...LOL! Posts like yours encourage me to hold on. Thank God for this Board.

                          OHMYGOD!!

I am so proud of you, I dont know how you did it. I dont think I couldve handled going to that party with all that food there. I definately wouldve pigged out on all the meat and salad. The best thing about these sort of planned parties, u can just bring ur own stuff and still eat with everyone without feeling too deprived.

Way to go Jillybunnie! Having a goal that cant be moved, like the wedding is great to work towards. I'm going to Florida in Sept and knowing that I havent got that long to go means I wont be tempted to cheat. Keep up the fantastic work!

Great job on making it so well through the weekend and the first 14 days. Picturing losing two sugar bags is a great way to demonstrate to others what you have done and are doing to yourself. Congrats!

Fantastic! Keep going! In the future however, I would not volunteer to hold the carbage for your family. Be serious about your Atkins. It does involve a complete lifestyle change and that means not putting yourself in situations where you will be tempted.

I can see no logical reason why Mom needs to be in the firing line when the family makes smores.

Be kind to yourself and don't test your resolve.
