    Hey everyone,

I'm quite new to this, it's my 4th day of induction. I just have a question - how many calories you usually allow yourself per day? I know calories are not to important but ive been trying to keep my calories between 1200-1500. Is that ok?

    Re: Calories

    Hi Betty

Dr. Atkins told us we didn't need to count calories, but he never said calories don't count.

That said - while inducting...DON'T WORRY ABOUT THEM! Concentrate on eating induction appropriate foods and learning to listen to your appetite. Why worry about something that doesn't need to be worried about yet?! You'll find if you simply eat when you're hungry and stick to induction legal foods, the fat will go.

There may well come a time when you find you have to keep the calories in check as well as the carbs. For me, personally, I didn't have to worry about that until I was within about 15lbs of goal.

    Keep on keepin' on!

Thank you so much for the information! So far I've been counting calories cos I want the weight loss to be maximum.
And another question. Sugarfree chewing gum - its not on acceptable food list so I guess I can't have that?

        Re: Calories

Ive never count calories when im on atkins. ****.... i never really count carbs either i just dont eat things that i know i shouldnt. My induction days usually range from 5-30 carbs. Suppose its no real biggy though cuz ive been doin a sort of indcuction since mid may. The last week of may went campin and partied a bit. Took my body completely out of ketosis but since ive got back ive stuck to my 5-30 regimine. Still losing weight just fine too. Im uh kinda like an atkins vet. Ive been doin it ever since it became a big fad diet years ago. My only problem is that I tend to go rite back to my old eating habits after reaching my goals. Although its not gona happen this time.

Betty, if something doesnt appear on the acceptable food list, then you can't have it, I'm afraid.
