  • Appetite has returned

I am a longtime lurker here. I have been doing Atkins since 6/13 and the results have been really good. I feel so much better and the weight is coming off- one thing I have noticed in week 1 of the induction is that I had a huge suppression with my appetite. Now though it seems to have come back and this is only week 5. I find myself going back for 2nds again and snacking on protein in between meals. What am I needing more protein? more fiber? I am not sure what is going on? Any advice would be helpful? - Rumania

Hi and nice to see you've de-lurked!

Review your menues. Particularly any condiments/sauces/dressings that you've added.

In terms of snacking on proteins, just remember that some of the protein you eat is converted by your body to sugar! So if you do need to snack, snack on something high fat like cheese.

Not only will the protein be converted to sugar in your body, but the extra calories can add up real fast.
Be careful to not go over your cheese allotment too.

Just thought I'd add my thoughts to this thread too.

I have experienced that one day I will be hungerier and the next day I am able to do better. It is good that you are aware and figuring out your problem foods now.

Have a good Low carb day!

look at your food journals and see if you added not only any new condiments but foods too. Sometimes a food even if it is legal will not behave for you and you will have to avoid it.

As the others said too much protein on Atkins will become a blood sugar spike too.
