I'm on my 11th day of Intro and have lost 5 pounds. I feel like that's probably water cause that came off during the first 5 days and then nothing else. My clothes aren't getting any looser, and I'm already starting to wonder if I can even stay on this diet. I'm waking up thinking who do you think you're kidding, you can't do this. I'm walking 20 minutes 5 days a wk (so far) and can't push it more. My mind would like to but my body won't go. I'm drinking my water and then some. Just getting discouraged already!

You CAN do it. One day at a time. One walk at a time. One meal at a time. Don't be anxious, don't be scared, just do it. One step at a time. If you'd like help with menus or specific concerns there is somebody here who's been there done that, I can almost guarantee it.

Thanks for responding both of you. Why do I think I can't? Because if I don't see some more lose soon, I know me, I'll quit. I'm also really hungry at night and want more to eat, so I snack on my allowable cheese, celery, creme cheese, chicken wings, hard boiled eggs. Not all at once, just one or two of these... well usually two. come to think of it this probably isn't a good idea. Do I need to eat more meat at a setting if I'm still hungry at night? Here's my meal today:
Breakfast: 2 eggs, 3 sausages cup of coffee
Lunch: 2 cup salad w 1/2 small tomato, 2 tbs dressing (1 carb) ranch, 1 hard boiled egg
Supper: baked chicken about 2cups w 1/2 cup cauliflower
snack: cheese, celery

Please don't get discouraged and give up! I know it's hard and it is discouraging when you don't see a sudden loss, but it'll happen!
I don't see anything wrong with your menu, except that if you're hungry, there's no reason not to eat more. You could try breaking your meals up into four or five smaller meals, have a bite or two of chicken, tuna, or egg salad when you're feeling a bit peckish, or my favorite quick nibble idea from Joy, a piece of ham with cream cheese and a sliver of pickle wrapped up in it. You shouldn't be hungry on this WoE!
Maybe to change things up a bit, try a different meat with breakfast, a couple of different types of veggies in your salad instead of the common lettuce and tomato. I know that this is just your menu for today, but I thought I'd throw those ideas out there.
It's great that you're getting your water in, and even 20 minutes a day of exercise is a good start! Work your way up to 30 minutes, maybe add some other types of exercises, it's possible!
I really hope that you find what works for you. This is a totally do-able WoL, you just have to find your groove. Why don't you look in to joining some of the challenges here...they've helped me keep motivated, it may work for you too!Started June 11, 2006

Mickkey--If that's a pretty common menu for you, I'd be frustrated as **** too! I think you aren't eating enough. You should NEVER be hungry on Atkins!!! I'd add some kind of meat to your lunch salad. I'd lighten up on the lettuce 1/2 cup and have a full cup of the cauliflower at night. As for snacking, I don't do much of it now..but during the first MONTH of Atkins, I did...and you should. Your snacks that you mentioned are perfect. At this point, don't try to limit them in any way other than if they satisfy your hunger. Review the list of allowable induction foods and start trying some different veggies. Don't allow yourself to get bored with just celery...try red bell pepper with cream cheese (bell peppers have more vitamin C than oranges do) or something like that. You want your snacks to be really flavorful and HIGH FAT. Chicken wings, deviled eggs, cream cheese/ham roll ups are really great. The fat will satisfy your hunger much much quicker and LONGER than anything else you could eat.
So, the bottom line of my tips to you....keep up WHAT you are eating, just eat more of it!!! Oh, and try more veggies---variety is the spice of life!!!~Joy

But when I saw your menu I was thinking that it's not enough!!
You need to eat more, no wonder you are hungry!!!
So eat some meat with your lunch or instead of the boiled egg you can have a nice omelette with veggies!!
Just change as often as you can so you don't get bored!
Lately I'm trying to make a new recipies as often as possible. And I think you didn't lose more because you are not eating enough and your body is clinging to every nutrient it has.
You could try www.fitday.com it's very good to keep count of what you are eating and the counting for servings

Congratulations on the 5 lb loss! That's not nothing (sorry for the double negatives) and you should be happy about that. Have you taken your measurements? You may be shrinking in size but the scale isn't showing the loss yet. Most people around here find the scale is not that reliable anyway. You should take your measurements and check them every 2 or 3 weeks. Also, you may be replacing some fat with muscle since you are exercising. So you may be losing fat but it's not showing up on the scale because your scale can't tell you if you are retaining water, or building muscle or what (see? scales aren't that smart so you shouldn't rely on them too much).
I think you are doing great with your exercising and your menu, although I agree that you need to eat a bit more. Throw some chicken or tuna on that lunch salad and make a devilled egg out of that boiled egg. Mmmm. Devilled eggs are a totally legal and decadent snack that will really fill you up. Congrats on your 5 pound weight loss.
Some of it is water, but the rest is fat. If you aren't convinced 5 pounds is significant, go to the grocery store today, pick up a 5 pound bag of flour and carry it around the store. That's the weight that's off your body. Every 1/4 pound and every 1/16 inch lost counts.
Clothing is a good way to gauge your loss provided that your clothing isn't the stretchy cotton knit stuff (like t-shirt material). That stuff stretches and contours to your body. So that type of clothing isn't very good in gauging. However, things like dress shirts or anything made of non-stretchy material like silk, cotton broadcloth or muslin, or linen are good measures because they don't stretch.~Megs~

That. Get some more fat, esp with dinner. And make sure you have plans in the evening, even if it's just a plan to read the paper or a plan to vacuum out your car. Many of us get that snacky feeling after dinner before bed...but it's not truly hunger.
And the scale is stupid, clothes tell a much truer picture. Give it a few more weeks, you can do anything for a few weeks! And see how much better you feel and look.

Hi, I can imagine how frustrated you are, that is discouraging I am sure, but fixable too.
I agree with the other posters that you need to up your protein at lunch. A hard boiled egg is more a snack that a meal. You could have a chicken breast cut up in the salad or a small can of tuna or salmon. I often have two chicken thighs with the skin along with salad or steamed veggies , it is wonderful and fills me up. I am rarely hungry between my meals or after dinner when I also have either the chicken thighs or a chicken breast with my veggies.
I have read posts where people are not losing and add some healthy low carb food and start losing. You can actually not eat enough on this plan too. Dr Atkin encouraged people to eat enough that they are full. You do not need to be hungry.
Please do not get discouraged , you have come so far, you will see the weight come off, you just have to adjust your plan until you see the results you want.

Again thanks everyone. I'm trying to step up my exercise too. I'm attempting doing one of the stair climb challenges. What a cool idea. I haven't lost any more pounds but lost 4 inches off my waist and wanted to shout for joy! Not giving up yet. If you all have stayed with it then so can I. Thanks for the encouragement.
