  • I saw the sticky, but i need to ask to be sure...

    because i'm pnicking!

I brought a flax bread, and i had a thin slice... when i got it into fitday it said it was 15 grams... the label says...

    per portion (just carbs part)
    carbs 15
    from diet fiber 10

would that make it then just 5 net carbs? (if so then i'm not over the 20 grams we're allowed to...)

if not, i'll just smash myself into the wall... or better yet kick my bf that said it's just 5 carbs...

15 total minus 10 fiber would be 5 net, but the other important piece of the puzzle is the ingredients in the bread. If you're on induction, grains aren't part of the plan yet. Flax is okay moderately, but what other ingredients were in the bread?

In that case it is not allowed.
Actually I am surprised that a commercial 'Flax bread' doesnt also include wheat flour or soy flour, as the varieties I have seen on our supermarket shelves in UK do not contain only ground flax but one or both of those!

This Way of Eating turns us all into label readers - I find that I am still taking longer choosing foods in the supermarket because I have to check ingredients!!

You can make your own flax bread instead and be sure it has only acceptable ingredients.
The recipes database (link at the top of the page) is still down or I would have told you to search there for different recipes, but here is a link to a thread discussing one flax bread recipe I use a lot.
        http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=18513

But we are allowed to use ground flax seed on induction ONLY to help against constipation under this rule of induction
12.If you are constipated, mix a tablespoon or more of psyllium husks in a cup or more of water and drink daily. Or mix ground flaxseed into a shake or sprinkle wheat bran on a salad or vegetables.
To use larger quantities of it should be left till you reach the nuts/seeds rung/level of OWL.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: I saw the sticky, but i need to ask to be sure...

thank you for the advice ... i have been doing things so well that i'd hate to ruin it for something so stupid...

i was reading labels, but only the nutricional facts... now i know i have to read the ingredients too...

anyways, i was worried, so today i went out and look everywhere for the ketosis strips... and they turned out really dark purple, so i think i'm safe and i can live to tell:

"Do NOT eat flax bread during induction!"

I understand how you feel...ugh. Hang in there!

There's quite a few recipes here on the board that you can make "flax bread" and it's Induction friendly. Now, they may not taste like "bread" but they sure help with having a few differences while enjoying the life in Induction.

            Best wishes!
