  • Oopsies?

Hi everyone. New to the Atkins board, and to the Atkins way of eating. I started induction a few days ago, but I'm afraid I may have cheated already. I found a recipe for peanut butter fudge online, and decided to make it, since my sweet tooth is so demanding.

The recipe for the fudge is as follows:
    8 oz. Philadelphia cream cheese
    1 oz. unsweetened Baker's chocolate
4 tsp peanut butter (i used the carb options PB)
    1 cup Splenda
    1/4 cup heavy cream

After making the fudge, I realized that neither chocolate nor peanut butter are on the "acceptable foods" list.

Should I re-start induction? I'm going on vacation to Italy in just a week and a half, and I don't know if I'll be able to stay in induction over there, since most Italian food probably contains loads of carbs. Would it just be a better idea to start induction after I return from Italy?

    Thanks much!

    Re: Oopsies?

    Hi Flurble!

Cocoa powder is okay (non sugared and the baking kind). But peanut butter is higher in to OWL on the legume rung...not Induction or the nut rung, so keep that mind for future reference.

I would say since you really didn't "blow it"..to just keep going and allow your body to naturally burn off the glucose stored in your body. Having the sweet tooth is common and something to over come if you found yourself giving in to. There's a lot of Induction friendly homemade things here on the board that I think will help...have fun browsing.

Going to Italy sounds awesome! I do believe you can stay on plan as long as you make the extreme effort. There are many folks who are diabetic that have to plan their meals accordingly; its the same thing for those who are following Atkins. Plan ahead and enjoy the freshness of the countries foods they have to offer. And keeping your trusty Atkins 2002 edition handy is also a great thing!

        You're welcome, Flurble!

I agree! There is a wonderful flow of support and encouragement here on the board and the only way we learn is by asking questions, making mistakes, and learning to move on (speaking from my own experience, of course...lol).

I wish you great success! Hey, don't forget pictures when you go to Italy
