  • Need a little help please...

Hi - I first want to thank everyone for their posts and support - without it this would be a VERY hard journey.

I need some help from some experienced people I think. I am on Day 9 now. I initially lost a few kilos, the first few days, but since went back up (to where I've only lost a little under 1 kilo (2 pounds). I have 100 pounds to lose.
    1. I have followed the diet religiously - logging every single eensy weensy taste in FitDay
    2. My carbs are averaging about 17 net grams per day. Never over 20.
    3. I am drinking 4 liters of water. (help help I'm drowning )
    4. I have not been exercising other than my normal walking, taking care of a 2 year old, etc. (OK - I'm getting going on this because I've signed up for one of the challenges and it's finally cooled down enough to walk and bike!)
    5. I'm taking my vitamins.
    6. I'm taking 2 tablespoons of Flax a day (in the form of Flax cracker (water and flax micro'd) or Flax Bread recipe from the forum here - induction friendly). No more than 2 because MAN this stuff is powerful - if you know what I mean!
    7. I'm eating 3 main meals and 2 or 3 snacks a day.
    8. I am STILL totally exhausted. I wake up ready to go in the morning but by noonish, I'm ready for bed. And I'm going to bed by 8.30 - 9.00. I was hoping that part of Induction would have passed by now - and I've added in some potassium and extra vitamins just in case - with no visible effect.

I'm not thinking of quitting - NO WAY! But I'm just wondering - is there any suggestions for me? I was hoping to really lose like 10 pounds on induction (10%) and Induction isn't over yet..... so any help would be VERY appreciated.

Time is valuable - so I appreciate you reading this and any responses!

Kacey, different people lose at different rates. Some people dont even lose anything during induction but get to goal.

Personally I dont you have anything to worry about. Just keep on doing what you are doing and the weight will begin to come off again.

Congratulations, it seems like you have really bought into the concept.

    Good luck.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

It's normal for weight to fluctuate daily. So, I would suggest that you get off the scale and don't re-weigh until DAy 14. Also, Dr. Atkins recommended that we measure ourselves and keep track of the inches we've lost because the loss of inches, according to him, represents fat emptying from our cells.

Be careful about those flax recipes. I developed the microwave cracker recipe in the Recipe Forum and the recipe there uses Induction legal amounts of flax. In regards to the flax bread recipe, again, you need to use Induction legal amounts. I've seen flax bread recipes on ADBB that use 4 or 6 tablespoons of flax for 1 serving. That's way over the Induction limit of 1 tablespoon of any fiber supplement daily.

If the appetite suppression of ketosis/lipolysis has kicked in you might not need to eat those 2-3 snacks. Adjust the quantity of food you eat to your current appetite, rather than the appetite you had in the past.

Oh I guess I should have added that too. The ketosis strips show .....

        NOTHING!

I'm just going by the rule that I must be drinking too much water.... (that's my story anyway)

Megs - I am doing the 2 tablespoons a day carefully - thanks for the comment though. It is powerful stuff, I'd be afraid to eat 4! Also, I'm still pretty hungry - so I've been having the snacks when necessary but only after a few gallons of water - to make sure its hunger and not just 'eating time' or boredom. Hopefully that will get better!

I'm keeping on, keeping on.... Just looking for ideas.

Thanks so much for your input!

The ketostix aren't the be-all and end-all. So don't put all your faith in them, because while they are a decent tool, they aren't always correct. We have had some ADBBers who never had a positive ketostick, yet lost weight very well.

The top navigation bar on this Forum has a link to the FAQs. There are several FAQ threads that address the sticks.
