  • Just started and having trouble reading lables...help!

Hi, I'm in day 2 of the Induction. I have a problem with reading the lables. For example, on mayo. It's been so long since I have the real stuff. I was on Weight Watchers and the lable reading was easy. But w/the Atkins, I'm having trouble. I used two tablespoons of real mayo in my tuna salad, how would calculate the net carbs. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you for you help.

    Welcome to the board!

On the same label your reading the amount of nutrition you'll find that the carbohydrates listed is what you count. If there's zero carbs...then there's zero carbs.

Hope you have your trusty copy of Dr. Atkins' 2002 edition of his book to help you understand more about deducting fiber from the carbohydrates and why.

    Hope that helps.

At least your reading labels. Thats great.
Check out the serving size first. Like a can of cola list as two servings but I've never know anyone to drink just a half can and toss the rest.
Then check the carbs, and under it will be the fiber, substract the fiber from the carbs and thats what you count.
Also check out www.fitday.com. Its a great way to track your meals.
