  • I'm back!

Disappeared for a bit but I am back...
I believe the last time I posted was around June 24th-ish..So about 1 1/2 months ago. During that time I had fallen off of induction due to a stomach flu/virus and then never really got back on despite full intention to do so...

Following the stomach flu/virus, I slipped into a terrible SLE/Lupus flare that had me bed ridden. I was taken off of work for 6 weeks also. During the first couple of weeks, I had maintained my weight loss due to the illness and not eating well. HOWEVER, (and boy how big of a HOWEVER...), following a Dr. appointment, my perdnisone steroid was greatly increased to pull me out of my flare and to prevent any organ involvement.

Low and behold....the enormous appetite that comes along with prednisone returned with a vengance. As I became more mobile, I began visiting the kitchen at REGULAR INTERVALS!! Since I was still not well enough to move around a lot or drive, I did not grocery shop for Atkin's friendly items and just ate whatever was in the kitchen and made me feel better at the time. That was often breads, crackers, snacks like chips, popcorn and pretzels. I ate a lot of fruit too!
I am still in my flare but on less prednisone. I am back to work but only part-time as I am not fully well. I still have an enormous appetite and am craving carbs BIG TIME!! I am hoping that even in the midst of this, I can begin Atkins again. As you can see by my signature, I have gained 12 lbs in 1 month!! This can not continue to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Welcome back
Have you been able to stock up on Atkins-friendly food and rid the kitchen of those crackers and other carby snacks?
I am sure once you get going you will vanquish those extra pounds and more too!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

          Re: I'm back!

Yep, cleaned out my kitchen yesterday after work. Today I threw away a few more things. There are somethings that are left in the fridge for my husband that have never been a problem for me on or off Atkins...Bought eggs, cheese, sour cream, meats, etc...over the weekend, So, so far, I am good to go.

Thanks for the support as I give this another go......
