  • Water/Time'a'day?

according to that ole water rule, I'm sposed to have 64 oz plus 8 for every 25 to lose. so I want to drink about 90 oz a day. Unlike most people i know I have no problem drinking my water, but that in itself might be a problem.
Its 1 in the afternoon and i've already had 86 oz of water! I have a 20 oz on the way to work, and I go through 2 33 oz cups of the stuff by the time I go for lunch. Its not bad because I get the water I need, but should I just stop at around 92 and not have any more the rest of the day? I mean cause 92 is a lot, and I dont want to go overboard (Last time on atkins I drank 130-156 oz a day at one point just cause I wasn't paying attention, and got very sick)
I suppose I ought to level it out a little, but somehow only drinking 28 oz more for the amount I wanna lose doesn't seem like enough?
    I'm weird that way.

    Re: Water/Time'a'day?

Most days I drink between 160 and 200 oz. of water.

I think the most important thing is that if you're thirsty, drink it. You're getting what you need in, so as long as you're not forcing water into yourself, I can't see why you'd get sick.

Time of day has no bearing on your water needs. Some days, you will need more than others; the "rule" amount is only the minimum you should consume. If it is hotter or you exercise heavily, you'll sweat more. If the air is dry you breath out more water vapor. It is hard for a person to actually drink so much water it causes problems, but under certain circumstances, it happens. You need to replace electrolytes, too.

I got sick cause I waterlogged myself lol.
I think i'm wrong too it couldn't have been 156 cause I was drinking big 64 oz cups back then, so it was 4-5 of those. Anyway I got sort of dizzy and really tired and felt pretty crappy.

Hi there.. not sure if this is the same math equation type thing.. BUT I was told you need to drink half your body weight in ounces of water. I weight 292lbs, so I need to drink 146oz of water a day. That is a loott of water.. I manage to drink about a 100, so I'm still short. It has helped me w/ my weightloss amazingly. Well , keep up the good work..

You'll get thirstier if you are drinking enough water. It's not unlike our bodies' starvation mode and how they store fat if we don't eat. If we don't drink enough water, we don't feel thirsty as often because we conserve water when we don't get enough. I know when I am drinking what i am supposed to, I pretty much stay thristy all the time. I keep a refillable water bottle with me.

I don't know about sick as in a real malady, but I know that if I drink too much water too fast, I become nauseated. Also - water, given in very large quantities, is sometimes used to induce vomiting when ipecac isn't available. Maybe that is what you are feeling?

              Re: Water/Time'a'day?

I'm thinking that it might be 256oz (64*4) of water that was making you sick. When I weighed around 270 lbs I would drink over 200oz of water before 4p and end up getting chills in the summer, along with leg cramps and the like from having too much water. Currently, I think we're about the same size and I drink around 150oz/day with no issues. All I can say is that if you know you're to a point where you're almost drinking the amount you were having issues with before, slow it down, I know when you start drinking that much you get even thirstier, but if you try drinking hot tea or something that you can't swallow very fast it helps. Other than that, I don't know of anybody having issues drinking up to or over 100oz/day. Also, keep in mind that while it's like, over 100 degrees outside, you should be drinkin' even more.

                Re: Water/Time'a'day?

hehe its flamingly hot here the last few days, as i'm sure it has been everywhere. All the women in my row at work are all "on diets", but the desk in the middle of the row is always full of candy and chips that they all bring from home. Anyway they've been complaining all week how its SO hot in the building and that they're all sweaty and they can't work like this. While I just smile and sip my water, completely comfortable, if not a little on the cold side.
