  • heavy cream?

ive read on here in diffrent threads to use heavy cream...is that the same as like half and half? or condenced milk??

    Re: heavy cream?

Heavy Cream has more fat to it than half and half and less carbs. If you use heavy cream in your coffee you wouldn't use as much because a little goes a long way. You will find heavy cream or is also called whipping cream in the dairy by the half and half. It is not like condenced milk which is high in sugar.

      Re: heavy cream?

Heavy cream is cream, half and half is half cream half milk, I have no idea what's in condensed milk since I've only ever used it for baking.

So Heavy cream = least carbs, half and half = higher carbs, condensed milk = highest carbs (I believe higher than regular milk). Just to clarify the rest, skim is higher carbs than 1%, is higher carbs than 2% is higher carbs than whole. The percentage is fat in each one.

          Re: heavy cream?

Ack! Nooo!! No touchie shakies!! *slaps wrist*

          The reasoning behind psychotic outburst:
I was reading your other post that you're basically 1.5 weeks into induction... I think in order to be able to handle the shakes you need to go through the rungs or find your CCL and know whether you can handle all the sugar alcohols that are usually in those things. I realize that you may not have a response to them, I don't have one to most things. I also am trying to figure out why you would be sticking a milk product into a pre-made shake when most of them can be mixed with water.. to make it less runny you can try throwing in some ice cubes and cutting down on the water (this does not mean to eat them). If you're looking for the extra protein to build muscle, honestly, in my experience, eating more meat is better than eating something more synthetic. Maybe it's just due to the fact that if I eat all the sugary stuff in one of those shakes I want more food, specifically sugar food, I don't know. Either way, if I were you, I would wait until I'm a bit further in before I started playing around with that stuff. Myoplex has a good one (the one line is lite or the other is carb sense) that I used about once a week as a treat thing (I was doing weights and cardio every weekday) but I was already like, 4 months into Atkins and had been doing that workout the whole time. The guy I lift with doesn't eat the shakes, eats low carb, and gains muscle like there's no tomorrow.

Sorry for the inappropriate outburst. Good luck.

              Re: heavy cream?

to add my two-sense (haha)... I was using half and half, then started making my own which cut carbs down very nicely. I use the Calorie Countdown (formerly known as Hood's Carb Countdown) lowfat milk and mix it in a bottle with equal part heavy cream. Since I started doing this, I seriously doubt the portions of "1/2 - 1/2" ... it would be more accurate to name it 1/3, 2/3. When you really mix it in equal parts, it's a nice cream and the CC milk really cuts the carbs down.

But remember milk products are not induction-legal except for cream and cheese!

Save the countdown milk and half+half till the dairy rung of induction!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Is that zero carbs 'per serving'?

Remember they can claim zero carbs if something has less than one carb, so it could have 0.999 carbs for one small amount like a tablespoonsworth, so if you have 2 servings that would be 1.998 carbs

We are lucky here in UK as they have to say how many carbs in 100 mls or 100 grams for everything which makes it easier to see the real numbers.

According to fitday.com one cup of heavy cream has 7 carbs, making one tablespoon just a bit less than 1/2 a carb!

                      Re: heavy cream?

hmm. Well, all I know is that the label states zero carbs, zero fiber, zero sugar. There are some in the case with 1 carb but this brand (store brand, actually) says zero. I don't know how to determine beyond that for this particular one.

better reread your Atkins excess protein in the human body is treated as sugar for storage. Since you already have 30% of your cals eattern in the form of protein you will not need more for weight lifting and could wreck your Atkins.

the US food labeling law says a company can round down if it is less them .5 grams for their listed serving size to 0 and every food company rounds down! to be safe do as Elizellen said and coult it as 1 cause all those things we think are carb free in our daily eating like spices herbs cheese eggs and in your case cream can put you over your body's metabolic point for losing weight eating Atkins when you only count the veggies in your totals. count every carb.
Just think dried garlic says 0 for 1/4 t but could really be .499999999 which would be about 96 grams of carbs for a cup.
