Hey everyone ~ Wasn't gonna do it, but decided to step on the scale this morning since the curiosity was killing me. I feel thinner, but the scale only showed 3 pounds lost.
What's with that??? I know I should be happy that it's heading in the right direction, but I thought that since cutting the carbs so drastically, the weight should drop quickly in the first week or two! Especially since reading others' posts about losing 20 pounds in 2 weeks! Is it true that the less you have to lose, the slower it comes off? I have about 20 pounds of weight to take off, so maybe I just need to be extra patient (which has NEVER been one of my strong points). *Big Sigh*. Just need a little support this morning. Oh yeah...one more question: I know we should stay away from caffeine, but is that because it causes cravings, which could stall weight loss? I drink caffeine, but it doesn't make me crave sweets or carbs at all. Thanks for the help/support!

Re: 1 week down - only 3 pounds lost????
We can expect to lose 5-10% of the weight we need to lose during the 14 days of Induction. That means a person who have 100 pound to lose can expect to lose 5-10 pounds, and a person with 10 pounds to lose can expect to lose 1/2 to 1 pound. Your goal is to lose 20 pounds. You have lost 3. That means you have lost 15% of the weight you need to lose. So you're doing far better than most of the folks here.Originally posted by jennyjHey everyone ~ Wasn't gonna do it, but decided to step on the scale this morning since the curiosity was killing me. As for caffeine, Dr. ATkins said it could cause blood sugar instability problems. Blood sugar instability problems can result in slower or no weight loss.~Megs~

Re: 1 week down - only 3 pounds lost????
Ya know, I went out for a walk/jog this morning and I started thinking about my post this morning. I sounded like such a whiner! I'm 3 pounds closer to my goal weight and losing inches, so at this rate, I should reach my goal within a couple of months. I can do that! Thanks for not slapping me upside the head not2late! And thanks for the info on the caffeine ~ I'm going to wean myself (so as not to get the dreaded migraine) and see how that works! I CAN DO THIS!

You sure can, Jenny!!
Did you take measurements too so you can use the tape to validate your progress if the scale sticks?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Keep up the awesome work taking care of you
Don't forget! This is a life time way of eating and not a quick fix, so expect that your weight loss may slow after a short period of time if you only have 20 pounds to lose to meet your body's "normal" weight. Stay the course and enjoy the time taking care of you
