What is going on? I know it's up and down whenever you are losing weight, but 4 pounds? I even cut out caffeine! Someone tell me to back slowly away from the scale.

Illy, back away from the scale! LOL
Remember that Atkins bar???????????????
Okay...it's most likely water weight. Are you drinking the required water? Lots and Lots of water....and then some more on top of that????
Post some of your menus so we can help spot problems.~Joy

I swear, I think if I drink any more water I'll just have to move my desk at work into the bathroom!

Re: help help! I gained 4 pounds?!
I take my water bottle in to work and just fill it up all day long from the Culligan cooler. That thing is awesome, really. It's kinda funny - I used to go back and forth to the kitchen all day for coffee. Now it's for water!
Well, those 4 pounds went away again this morning. Maybe I ate too much salt? I dunno. When I lost the weight before, 5 years ago, I only weighed myself once a month after the first two weeks. I really should put the scale away. Then again, not having one allowed me to gain weight back slowly without noticing within the past few months.F/40

I'll have to get someone in the house to hide it. Otherwise I'll be sneaking it out and stepping on it three times a day again! =)F/40

Re: help help! I gained 4 pounds?!
Hi illy ~ i'm glad that the four pounds are gone again! Our bodies tend to fluctuate, so perhaps you just stepped on the scale at an unfortunate time! LOL! Definitely put that scale away... maybe try once a week and then move up to twice a month, then once a month... gradually work your way up there! I used to weigh myself several times a day. Even when i would get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom i would pop on that scale at 3 in the morning! That was just nuts... i was emotionally tied to that darn thing. It could make or break my day! So i feel your pain... good luck! Try cutting back!!!

Re: help help! I gained 4 pounds?!
Think about it. What is a scale? It's a hunk of metal, plastic and bolts and we give it tremendous power over what kind of day we are going to have! Will it be a good day or will it make me feel like a failure. The scale can't tell you the difference between muscle weight, fat weight, water gain. The scale is stupid. The scale is not our friend. There ... I said it!!!

Re: help help! I gained 4 pounds?!
I used the tape measure this morning. The tape measure IS my friend! So far I have lost:
Under bust (bra band) - 1 inch
Waist - 2 1/2 inches
Hips - 2 1/2
upper thigh - 1 inch
WooHoo! Not bad for just under two weeks! Tomorrow is the end of the two weeks. I am considering staying on induction. I feel good and I'm not really craving madly.F/40

Re: help help! I gained 4 pounds?!
Yeah illy, you are fine! I don't own a scale, and sometimes that is troubling, since I want to know, but I will be very honest, I would react alot. I would pout and I would probably say, "why try, it doesn't work" I bet knowing my weak character in this whole eating arena, I would not make it til the next day to find it was all gone again, those 4 pounds.
Some people respond and are motivated and can easily process conflicting weights. I am a weanie, and I would react terribly....
The tape measure is a good friend, and a good ol pair of jeans or shirt they too can be friends. My daughter was dancing around in pants that did not fit in June....she is blown away and has hung them on her wall to reminder she is making progress....
