  • I really need help, feeling so down

I have promised myself to start Atkins 3 times in the last 6 months and I have only got as far as 3 days into it.

The problem is I feel so ill, my head pounds and I feel like I can't eat in case I am sick. Is there any way round this? And has anyone else experienced it?

I am so down about my size now I want to cry every time I look in the mirror so I have to do something.

Also I have a really sweet tooth, any suggestions what I can eat that may satisfy that craving?

    Thanks in advance xxx

all I can say is that ..time goes by if you do this for yourself or if you don't ...each day has a beginning and end to it ..it is completely up to you how bad you want to do this and if it is worth it ..if you are torturing yourself because you can not start..then honey maybe this is not the time?

sugar/carb detox is not comfortable... the best thing to do is give it time drink plenty of water and get on with things instead of dwelling ...if you make it past three days you should be fine...but if you keep restarting you might get so frustrated you will never be able to do it

read the book again and get yourself a plan for diversion ....

    good luck

      Batlo.

From one brit to another - the feelings you are experiencing at the moment are very natural. Your headache will pass very soon, and when it does you will feel better than you ever did before.

Also, with regards to the craving for sweet foods. Do a 2 weeks squeaky clean induction and I will guarantee you that you will not have those cravings again - (well I wont guarantee it, but I would bet you that you wont). Its all about breaking habits and lifestyle changes.

From one Sugar Addict to another, this too shall pass. Whenever you are feeling really crappy, try to eat something with protein. I don't know what the book says, but that is what got me through those first 3 days.

I used to want to eat something sweet the moment I finished a meal. Now, I can pass up the sweets without even looking twice. You can be there too!!!

Keep us posted on your progress.

What you are going through happens to almost everyone. Take tylenol or ibuprofen or whatever your pain reliever of choice is, drink lots of water, make sure you eat when you are hungry and just stick through it. It'll only be a few days...and then you are going to feel AWESOME!

We've all done it, and you can do it too!!!

              Good Luck!

I was like you and started 2 or 3 times and then quit on day 3. I think one of the things that is helping me stick to the program this time is bicycling. I ride for an hour a day and for some reason I didn't feel as sick on day 3 as I used to. I'm on day 13 and still going strong.

If you don't like bike riding then maybe you could pick something else to put some of your focus on besides just the food - maybe even walking. That way you are kind of planning your days around the one hour walking you are going to do and not just thinking about the food you are going to eat. It seems to help with the sick feeling in some way.

Re: I really need help, feeling so down

Sadly, sometimes it just comes down to one question ... Do you like how you look today? Then the second question is ... What are you going to do about it? How does whining work for us? Not so good. And while eating might help the immediate symptoms you feel, how do you feel after eating? Are you glad you ate?

Sometimes we just need to set our brain on auto pilot and follow what we know is best for us. If we don't, the person that will look back in the mirror a month from now will not be the person we want to be looking at.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
