    Re: can someone help me....

I would guess it's the 8 ounce can of tomato sauce.

    editing to add....

The Stroganoff recipe I use is similar to the "original" one. It's only sauteed beef, mushrooms and onions mixed with sour cream.

This recipe is sorta like mine. If you leave out the cognac and the egg noodles, it is Induction friendly (and you won't need to decode what size can of tomato sauce you need.)

    Beef Stroganoff
    Ingredients:
3-pound piece beef tenderloin cut into semi-thin strips
    5 tbsp butter
    1/3 cup shallots, chopped fine
1 ½ pounds button mushrooms, sliced thick
1 cup beef broth (canned is fine)
    3 tbsp Cognac (I prefer 5)
1 cup sour cream or crème fraiche
    1 1/3 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
    2 ½ tbsp vegetable oil
    2 packages wide egg noodles
    Paprika
    Salt
    Pepper

    Preparation:
    1. Season the meat with salt and pepper. In a heavy saucepan or skillet, heat the oil. When quite hot, add a bit of meat at a time and brown on the outside. When all the meat is done, place on a plate.

    2. Add butter to skillet and put heat on medium. Toss in shallots and sauté for about three minutes. Do the same with the mushrooms. Season the mixture with salt and pepper, and increase the heat until the liquid evaporates. This may take up to 10 minutes, so be patient.

    3. Pour in the broth and Cognac. As the alcohol dissolves in the heat, simmer until thick. The mushrooms should just be covered now. Total time for this may be another 12 minutes.

    4. Add the cream, Dijon mustard and meat to the mixture. Simmer until the meat is at your desired level (I like it medium-rare). Season with dill, paprika, and more salt and pepper. 5. While the dish simmers, cook the noodles and top with beef mixture. Season

thanks, i will just get the 4oz can if they have it at super walmart instead of 8oz can as that will be easier to divide without having to use a measuring cup...though if i cant find it i will use a measuring cup.
