  • Induction Over - 17lbs down

Well, I'm posting in this thread for the last time!

I have completed induction and have lost 17 pounds altogether and am pretty happy with this loss. Also, everyone I know is commenting on how I look and I think my body is changing shape along with the loss and becoming better proportioned. I have broad shoulders, no hips, and thinner legs and hold most of my weight in my stomach usually, and now everything just looks like it fits together better.

I think I will stay in extended induction untill I get within 10 pounds of my goal because I am not bored with the food and I feel pretty good.

I hope everyone else is feeling good and enjoying (lol) induction. If you are having a rough time, just remember it will pass.

    Congrats!

Don't be in too much of a hurry to lose that you don't go through the remaining Atkins phases. Those phases are uber-important if you want to keep the weight you lost off.

      Congratulations!

I have to echo Meg here...You might want to move up the rungs before you hit within 10 pounds of goal. The last 5-10 pounds are supposed to come off the slowest and after the rungs you still have pre-maintenance to do.

      Good luck on your journey!

Since you are able to lose so easily on Atkins, you should just go ahead and move through the rungs, eat all sorts of food and still lose!

            Thanks everyone.

The thing is that in the past 4 days I only lost .8 of a pound, so I am slowing down. I'm just scared that if I start going through the rungs I will crave carbs too much. Any thoughts on this?

Re: Induction Over - 17lbs down

Some folks hit a "post Induction stall". Dr. Atkins doesn't mention it in the book, but he briefly addressed it in the atkins video and chalked it up to your body readjusting its water balance. Anyhow, it occurs during weeks 3-6 of this diet and you might not see any movement on the scale or measuring tape. But if you stay the course, you'll start losing again.

As for cravings and adding carbs....OWL is a very organized, step-by-step process. So you won't be adding alot of carbs in at a time. Also if you do add a food and you begin having cravings or other signs of blood sugar instability, then you drop the food. So you are really testing your body to see how it reacts to different foods. And if you think about it, it's "better" to deal with cravings now, because you're at the beginning of your weight loss journey. So if you do fall off, you can come back without losing so much ground. As opposed if you are 5 pounds from goal, fall off because you ate a few pieces of cantaloupe, then don't return until you have regained your weight plus 50 more pounds.

I'm slowly working my way through the rungs. I'm currently on the nuts and seeds rung and I've been losing steadily all the way through. It varies for everyone, but why don't you try rung one and see how you feel? All you'll be doing is adding more veggies, so you won't be changing that much from induction.
