  • Alcohol...

I know that beer has a few carbs.. even light beer having 3g or more. And I'm sure liquor probably has some as well, but my question is, how much? Am I allowed a small amt on induction as long as I have stayed under 20g for the day? I'm talking about vodka (distilled) or rum. I know that sweetened liquors such as the fruity kinds are definitely out. thanks in advance.

        The rungs are explained here:

And in the book. If you don't have the book, you really need to make the investment. It will help you understand this way of eating a whole lot more.

There is far more than the Induction phase of Atkins. Dr. Atkins carefully crafted multiple phases to ensure that we would re-learn how to eat by moving through the various phases. Induction is designed to get your body used to burning fat rather than burning carbs. After completion of Induction, you move on to OWL, Ongoing Weight Loss. In OWL, you will gradually add new foods in very small increments to determine how your body metabolizes them and what your Critical Carb Level (CCL) will be.

So, Atkins is more complex than just eating meat and salad. That is why we recommend that before you begin Atkins you read the book, DANDR. I'd suggest that you familiarize yourself with DANDR and read about this program. We wouldn't want to see you fail.

When you are alone in your head, you are in a bad neighborhood.
