  • how bad did I mess up?

    On my 7th day into induction (with no cheating) I bought a box of Breyers low car fudge bars that said 4 carbs each. I ate one since I hadn't had my full 20 grams for the day, then I ate 2, then I ate 3 which put me over my limit. My mouth still tastes funny as if I am still in ketosis, but did I fail induction? I have not cheated since and I am now in my 9th day. Haven't lost much weight though. I threw out the rest of the box as I have no willpower as you can see.

    At the most, if you'd already had 20, and ate 3 4g bars, you would then be at 32g. While this may not have been enough to stop ketosis, it is no surprize your weight loss got sluggish.

    When I slip up with a little too many carbs, I try to burn it off with cardio ASAP, and/or dock my next day's carb allowance by the difference in carbage overage.

    Just keep on through induction - we are all human and make mistakes; that is why you need to do it a minimum of 14 days. Be proud of yourself for stopping when you did, and tossing the box. Hope you learned to stay away from the ice-cream section in the store.

      In my opinion, that's one of the big problems with the low carb ice cream...PORTION CONTROL. That and I want more and more and more. Then cravings are all out of control...for something that tasted good about 2 minutes.

      I have these problems and I've been on Atkins for 7 months...and I've lost 70 lbs. For someone who is in induction, these bars could be the "kiss of death" Dr. A talks about, in that they trigger cravings and cause people to fall off plan. And it's self torture because you have to start all over again to get your cravings under control again.

        Sorry mrd, just get right back on plan and keep going. Don't look back, always keep looking forward. Just remember to occasionally peek back and remember that these bars are dangerous for you LOL
