  • Losing baby weight...

Hey all! I am on Day 9 of induction and so far so good. I have lost 6 lbs already! I have a total of 35 lbs to lose and I can't believe I'm seeing results already. I gained almost 70 lbs with this pregnancy (a lot due to swelling as I had pre-eclampsia). I've lost about 35 on my own but after 3 weeks of not losing anything else I figured I needed some help. My mom did this diet several years back and lost a lot of weight in just three months. I love this forum and I can't wait to share my results!

    Hi and welcome.

If you are breastfeeding, then it is NOT recommended to do the weight loss phases of Atkins. The nutritive quality of breast milk depends on the nutrition mom is getting. So if mom restricts her diet, the breast milk will reflect that.

Interesting aside, I had dinner with a few nurses from the local health department a few weeks ago and they told me that the breast milk of women who have had weight loss surgery is nowhere near the nutritional quality of breastmilk or the formulas, even if the mother's lab work is fine.

So if you are breast feeding, don't do the weight loss phases of Atkins and please consult your doctor.

        Hello!

I had my son in December and had gained 55 pounds in the pregnancy. I have lost just about all that weight on my own (like you)...but before I was PG I wanted to lose about 15-20 pounds..so here I am. I did Atkins a couple years ago and it worked well. Induction was by far the hardest part, but I found that "variety" is what works for me. Good luck to you!!! Congrats on the baby!

Hi, I gained like, 70 pounds with having mine (I had pre-eclampsia too but I think it's just because I was being a fat slob). Anyway. I lost it all on Atkins within a few months.
