  • Forgot lunch @ home: acceptable fast food alternatives?

I was really looking forward to my chicken salad! I forgot it in the fridge at home . I need some suggestions for an induction friendly lunch. I'm pretty hungry!

    Thanks!

I sometimes go to McDonalds and order a burger with no bun. They usually put some cheese and lettuce on there for you. Works for me.

Wendy's Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers without the bun! I lOooooooove em!! They always seem to hit the spot. They come w\ tomato, lettuce and mayo. and you can get a side salad from there, or even there chicken salad. Wendy's is the best ( I think )

Do you not have any sandwich shops around that will make a salad up for you? I get a salad made everyday from our local sandwich shop, theyre very good

        Good luck

If you get in a spot again, I think a cobb salad is a great meal. Mixed greens, egg, bacon, chicken, blue cheese, yum. I get mine with no dressing so I don't even have to worry about it.

I will keep that in mind.

Form the looks of the nutritional info on the Wendy's website, the regular ranch dressing is safest (still not ideal).

This won't help you today, but it will in the future should you forget your lunch again. Keep a packet of tuna or chicken and a packet or two of mayonnaise, etc. in your desk/locker. That way, if you forget, you will have some kind of food available to you.

I have a stash of food in my desk drawer, because during the winter months I sometimes hang around after hours for the roads to be cleared of snow before driving home and because you just don't know what could happen to delay your travels home. I work in the Washington DC metro area. During Sept. 11 the airspace above our office was a no-fly zone and traffic was limited due to the various military bases and government installations that are here. The situation that day was really touch-and-go and we were all set to spend the night at the office if we couldn't leave. So I've kept some kind of canned food in my desk ever since.

^^I should have done that last Monday when I started Atkins! I will defintely get on that.

I looked at Wendy's website again and it actually looks like the ceasar dresing has fewer carbs.

I go to a grocery store and get a rotisserie chicken and some sort of vegetable that catches my eye. Sometimes they have prepared salads. I always keep mayonnaise and salad dressing at work for "situations". I have some tuna in the foil pouches in my desk drawer too.

If there is a place that makes chicken wings, I'll always go for those! Yum! With celery and blue cheese.

Can you eat the skin on chicken wings as long as they don't have sauce on them?

You can eat the skin on the chicken and most of the wing sauce (regular, nothing sweet) should be okay as well.

Re: Forgot lunch @ home: acceptable fast food alternatives?

eating out was my specialty back home. I was a Jedi master in my opinion when it came to finding what was low carb friendly at fast food resteraunts.

L&L Hawaiian BBQ has a Mini Atkins Plate Which consisted of some BBQ Beef, BBQ Chicken and a sunny side up egg. this BBQ isn't something you would associate with the one in a bottle, it's just how they cook it.

El Pollo Loco has Zero carb grilled chicken.

Carls Jr has a Low Carb Six Dollar Burger but the truth is you can get any burger or sandwich on their menu as a lettuce wrap if you ask them after making an order. i do recommend no ketchup and pickles(thats what someone taught me on my atkins diet).

In and Out Burger is the same as Carls Jr, just ask for a protein wrap. be careful about the sauce though, it does has some sugar in it.

numerous chinese places like Rice King and Chow King, if you had a 1 or two Item combo you can always opt for steamed vegetables instead of the rice or noodles.

same goes for mexican resteraunts, you can have a carne asada plate, just ask for no rice, beans or tortillas and ask for more salad, pico de gall and guacamole instead.

thats all i can think of now. a lot of resteraunts have low carb substitutes, you just have to ask or make certain ommitments in your meal.
