  • Terrible Headaches...

I've completed day 2 of the Induction Phase each day I've suffered nasty headaches. When will they stop? I'm not hungry. I am drinking water, but the headaches keep popping up. I can not concentrate on my day-to-day activities. Does anyone have any advice?

    misslili,

I too had really bad headaches/migrains, and i was honestly just plain tired! I didn't feel well at all for the first 3-4 days. After that i was fine. Hang in there, and drink lots of water. i believe i had the induction flu, and it wasn't fun, but i got through it and i know you can too! Hang in there and it will get better!

Since the day you've begun induction, have you added some foods/condiments that you never normally eaten? I've read some foods like cheese could cause headaches. Some people get headaches from artificial sweeteners, or chocolate.

I also read somewhere that nitrites can be the culprit (as a preservative or to give red coloring) to things like bacon, hot dogs, or bologna.

You could try eliminating one of those for a few days and see if it makes any difference.

I don't know if any of these might be contributing, but it could just be one or two things that you're eating. I hope you feel better soon!!

        Re: Terrible Headaches...

During the 1st 2-3 days of a clean induction your body can get an imbalance of water and electrolytes as it shifts from carb-burning to fat-burning mode. You drink a lot, but your body is flushing toxins as well as electrolytes at a rapid pace. Try sipping on something like a good broth with mineral salts (I used bouillion plus sea salt) so the proper fluid balance is restored quickly, and your headache should pass. In any case it should be past soon, and you will feel much better.

if you gave up caffeine for your induction you can have a wicked headach too as you detox. I almost quit Atkins when mine hit back in induction.

you can take any caffeine free OTC pain kiler for your headache and know unless it is a food reaction it should be gone by day 4

            Re: Terrible Headaches...

Thanks for the advice b/c this headache thing makes me want to call it quits. I consider myself a strong person but, there are two things that make me a wimp headaches and (don't laugh) a sore throat (I love to runmy mouth). And yes I have given up caffiene (I drank Cokes religiously). I hope that today is better.

              Re: Terrible Headaches...

You are having caffeine and sugar withdrawal symptoms. Please, please stick with the plan, because those WILL go away. There may be other symptoms that pop up over the next two weeks, but they will be MILD compared to the headache. You are almost through the worst part. Don't give up now. (((((((misslilli)))))))))

You can do it. Once your body switches from burning carbohydrate to burning your own body fat for fuel, you are going to feel like you can conquer the world!! Stick with the plan, and stick with us and you're going to be a hot mamma this fall!!!

                  The headaches have gone away
Thank GOD!!! I did not think that I could have made it another day with that type of pain. I was painfree and able to ride my bike and exercise with my sons for an hour this afternoon. I'm even catching up on my college classes. Now if I can just keep the motivation to exercise twice a day I will be good. I can't wait until I am under 200 lbs.
