  • How much is enough?

    Hello, I am not a breakfast person at all (I could go without eating untill 1:00pm) so when I am on atkins I try as hard as I can to eat something in the morning but I need to know how much is considered a meal. I am currently choking down some turkey sausage (only had 2) and I am ready to stop but I don't want to under eat . Any info would help. Thanks

    As long as you do eat Breakfast it almost doesnt matter how much of it you eat, just try to eat within 2 hours of waking up and don't go any longer than 6 waking hours without eating anything.

    Just eat until you are satisfied, that is all you need to do.

    I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

      Thanks for the help. It ends up being like a fear factor episode when I am trying to eat breakfast. So is it more a matter of just getting something down?

        Fear Factor - hee - that's funny. I think its a matter of getting something into your system so you can get your metabolism going. A boiled egg and a couple of pepper strips or a slice of deli meat with some cream cheese and lettuce wrapped around it....it doesn't have to be anything heavy or huge. After a while you will probably get used to eating in the morning and then it will be easier.

          try having something else not a breakfast food you like. maybe some cream cheese and veggies or veggies with a dip maybe some cheese chips, or flax cereal or heck some cheese peppers whatever you like and just have some fat/protein with some of your veggie carbs stopping at a few bites if that satisfies your hungry.

            B, I completely understand the fear factor breakfast thing!! I'm not a breakfast person either, but I never felt like I absolutely couldn't eat something until Atkins. Although it's hard right now, I've just been eating a very small portion like 1 or 2 eggs b/c if I did try to wait until lunch like I did one time, I had absolutely no energy. So if anything, grab your bucket, choke it down, and you'll thank yourself a few hours later (too bad you won't win $$ for it.) It really does help you function better.

              This helps so much. Of course if I was going to Ihop for breakfast this would be a different story! It is just the protein that makes me gag after a little while. I am so glad to know that it doesn't have to be a sit down meal. Now I can plan for breakfast snacks.

                good to know you are going to be fine now about that IHOP ask for your omelette without pancake batter so you don't get unwanted carbs too.
