Re: Ground Flaxseed
If I were you, no. Then again, if I were you I would know why I was wanting to eat flaxseed anyway, and if it were for a really good reason, I would probably find some without any sugar in it. It would also depend on how far I was into induction, etc, etc. I didn't think flaxseed was recommended on induction anyway though.27/f/5'10"

Re: Ground Flaxseed
Then again...it could be a naturally occurring sugar. As long as Sugar is not in the ingredients it should be okay.~Joy

Re: Ground Flaxseed
Mine doesn't have any sugar, Fitday doesn't give any sugar... how can it be naturally occurring? I'm not being a jerk, I really am curious.Originally posted by ValidRougeThen again...it could be a naturally occurring sugar. As long as Sugar is not in the ingredients it should be okay.27/f/5'10"

Re: Ground Flaxseed
I don't know...I don't use it. I just know that nuts and seeds can have naturally occurring sugars....and flax is a seed....so it just goes to reason that flax could have a naturally occurring sugar.~Joy

Re: Ground Flaxseed
yep it has naturally occurring sugars just as all plants do. You can use it and enjoy the recipe section. Just remember a little is all you need until you see how it effects your GI tract.
A little plant education here
seeds contain nutriants that the plant will need to grow when it first germinates just like eggs contain the food for chickens. Some plants like corn need more sugars then flax does so their seeds contain more natural sugar or starch.by the book atkinseer

Re: Ground Flaxseed
lv_girl, yes, that's true. For any food (ground flax seed or any other) when the nutritional information shows some grams of sugar, but sugar is not listed in the ingredients is that there are NATURALLY occurring sugars....and you CAN have those as long as the food is on the acceptable foods list.
What you want to avoid is stuff that has sugar or high fructose corn syrup or starches and such in the ingredients list.
Since your flaxseed does not state any sugars in the ingredients...you can eat it.~Joy
