    ...before it converts to glucose?

    I've read somewhere it should be about 1 to 1.5 grams per kilogram of lean body weight per day.

    it will depend on how much growth and repair your body is doing and how much of your body's protein storage capacity is empty. it will be differerent for everybody. Eating Atkins high fat plan we try to keep our protein intake to about 30% of our toal caloric intake. on days you are hungry you will be eating more protein then on days you aren't hungry.
