14 day induction weight loss is proportional to the amount you need to lose. since yu need to lose less this time you will not lose as much. after your 14 days are up you should move to OWL so you can practice eating in correct proportions and see how your body handles the various rungs and foods. remember Dr Atkins said in DANDR those who work all the phases of his play have less problenms staying at goal weight.

If you follow it as it is written you will lose. Be prepared for a slower weight loss as you have less to lose this time. I would recommend that you climb the rungs after induction as that is the most important part of this journey. That is where you will learn what foods your body will tolerate and how to eat once you are on maintence. Atkins isn't about losing the weight and then going back to eating how you used to. Eating like that is what put on the weight in the first time. It is about learning how to eat to maintain the new, healthier, leaner you. So grab a big glass of water...read the book and all the stickies and you will be on your way!

this is my belief of restarting induction. some people start for two weeks and then move onto phase two but you have the option to continue until you lose all the weight or at least half the weight you want to lose. i wouldn't stay on induction for longer than a year though. second, it might help starting back on induction but you mentioned weight gain, that's where portion control and calorie intake plays a role. you already know that over time you should be decreasing both calorie and the amount you eat just so you can see steady weight loss results. i myself am sticking on induction until i lose the last 20 lbs, i've already lost 85% of the weight i wanted to lose in the first place.

It is also my personal belief that if you have a lot of weight to loose that staying on extended induction is the way to go.

For me personally, I had no self control - that's how I got this size. On induction I know my limits and I know that I have a long way to go to get this weight off. I feel, for myself, that staying on induction is going to give me the best advantage to succeed in reaching my goal weight.

BTW - my scale came out of the closet today and I'm down 11 pounds total. I'm not sure if that's a good number considering my start date but hey, 11 pounds down is 11 pounds I didn't gain and 11 pounds closer to my goal so I'm happy . I do know that I haven't given my all to Atkins this past week as I wasn't able to exercise due to an injury with my ankle and having pulled my stomach muscles. I also didn't get in all my water as it was a bit painful to walk back and forth but I'm feeling better today (I can walk a bit better) so hopefully I'll be back to exercising by mid week.

Okay. Isn't this board wonderful. You can ask your question and get everyone's different opinions and maybe it will make you think of things you hadn't. And ultimately it is up to you as it is your choice and your body. And on that note I respectfully disagree with a prolonged induction stay. Especially in Tina's case.

Tina has only about 20 pounds to lose. She has been on Atkins before...lost some weight...went OFF Atkins...regained some and now wants it to lose it again. Induction is made to help detox your body and ready it for the fat burning mode. Nothing wrong with doing your two weeks of induction since you haven't been on Atkins for a bit. Nothing wrong either with and extra two weeks if you feel you need that. BUT..you should move up the rungs. That is where you learn how to eat and what you can eat. OWL...that stands for Ongoing Weight Lose...did you see that word...Ongoing. You can lose weight climbing the rungs. I know, I did it. It is not a scary place.

I think Atkins says the last 10 pounds need to come off the slowest in order to be the most successful at keeping all the weight off. So in Tina's case she only needs to lose 10 pounds before she should be in premaintence. That means she needs to do the 2 week induction and climb all the rungs. Odds are that she may lose the 10 pounds before she even gets through the rungs...but at least by climbing them she will have started learning how to eat at maintence so the weight doesn't come back on again.

Now for us heavier girls...sometimes we have to do each step slower so a little bit of time on extended induction is fine..especially for those of us who need the control it offers. But eventually, if we too, want to experience success in keeping our weight off, we have to come out of induction and climb those rungs. Atkins is more about induction and getting the weight off fast.

This is only my opinion...respectfully given.

Tina...hope I gave you something to think about.

              Re: Question Plz help ?

If I was in your position and restarting Atkins, you NEED to start on the Induction phase, its the first step. I wouldnt stay on Induction for a long length of time, rather start going up the rungs, as you dont have a lot to lose (In comparison to me, I still have 60lbs at least to go!)

              Good luck!

                  Re: Question Plz help ?

Have you read the section in DANDR titled 'Ongoing Weight Loss - the second stage of Atkins' yet, Tina?
In my copy it is chapter 14.

There you will see Dr Atkins laid out an order in which to start adding foods which he called the Carbohydrate Ladder.
We think of each level of these 9 groups of food as being rungs of that ladder, though Dr Atkins referred to them as 'levels'.

If you dont have your DANDR handy then there is good information in the OWL forum about following this important phase of Atkins.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
