If you've have had problems with insomnia in the past, you should see your doctor.
If this is a brand new occurence, this might be related to that "burst of energy" Dr. Atkins talks about in the book. If so, you'd want to practice good bedtime habits until your body adjusts to this increased energy.
if it is the new Atkins burst of energy make good use of your time because your body will eventually adjust. My to do list was never shorter then during those induction days of sleeping short hours energized.
another thing it could be is thyroid hormones beuing oiff but if you saw your doc for the pre atkind check up then you know they are fine so just enjoy it.
Are there other things on your mind lately? I know that I sometimes run things through my head at night as my brain just doesn't seem to want to shut down when I want to sleep.
I suffered from insomnia after my daughter was born and after several days I was like a zombie. I was afraid to take a sleeping pill as I knew I'd need to wake up at night for my baby and I didn't want to have that hang over feeling that some sleeping pills give you so I asked my doctor what I could do. She told me to get Melatonin. This can be found in the nature isle of most pharmacies and you don't have the hangover as it's not a sleeping pill - it helps you fall to sleep, not makes you fall to sleep.
Of course, before using anything you should check with your doctor but this worked great for me and I only needed it for a few nights before my body went back to it's normal cycle.
