  • NO KETOSIS YET> booooo!

    Hey guys, I am kinda discouraged, I just tested for ketosis, after day number 3 of this and absolulty no trace of it,... Shouldnt I be seeing it by now.. I did Atkins years ago and I remember day number 2 of it I was pretty dark purple. Does anyone have any encouraging words for me, i feel like I am refusing my favortie foods for nothing, and I really feel like I have a huge lack of energy and a consistant headache. I almost feel like possibly giving up, I dunno. Anyways anyone had trouble getting their bodies into ketosis as well.???? thanks!

    Just try to relax, first it took me about a week get into ketosis where it was measuring on the stix. I drink a lot of water. Another thing just an FYI, I don't test in the morning. I am always negative in the morning then in good ketosis in the afternoon. Other people measure fine in the morning, but I am one that doesn't. Good look......Dawn

      Thank you, I know I shouldnt put so much pressure on myself because that is how I have failed before but it is just annoying because I just want to start this process so bad... I think I am alittle cranky because of the lack of energy I am feeling can you tell me when that turned around for you, was it after the week that ketosis started showing, I slept so great last nite and I feel like I am a walking zombie right now. My poor daughter wants me to play with her and I seriously feel like I could turn in for the nite and it is only 4:30 in the afternoon, hahahh!

        Ketosis sticks won't always be purple...they can be beige too. It also depends on when you test yourself.

        Ketostixs aren't the most accurate indicator of whether you are losing weight on Atkins.

          I don't know when i was in ketosis, but i know for the first 4 days i was exhausted, and had bad migrains. Hang in because it sounds like you're going through the induction flu. It will get better, Hang in and stick with it. Good Luck!

            Have a couple drinks of chicken soup & post in the morning - I'll just bet your on the verge! Don't count on the strips, tho - see if your appetite & headache are replaced by feeling great!! Hang in there...

              I think a better indicator of being in ketosis is the sudden appetite supression. I noticed that on day 3 i believe. Last time on atkins I cheated a few times and could always tell when i got knocked out of ketosis by it because the cravings would come back and I was hungry more often. Then all of a sudden after following it to the letter, I would have to remind myself to eat and could smell chocolate without even wanting it.

                thanks everyone I am hanging in there strong. I ate a atkins chix salad tonight for dinner, it wasnt that big at all and here I am 3 hours later full as can be, I couldnt imagine snacking right now or even eating my favorite "usual" snack food! I am going to relax on the sticks for awhile because I am very sure that I am am following the atkins plan, so I know in my heart I am doing it correctly and everything else will fall into place. I gotta say I am soooooo excited to get over this tired slumpy no energy feeling. And I could def stand to not have this headache when I wake up but if I do I will just put my walking shoes on and head out the door for some fresh air. Thanks and hugs to all of you, you have been an inspiration for me to stick with this and I have noticed that during these first 3 days when I have had the desire to give up I just quickly got online and read all of your amazing stories of will power and success. I hope to have my own story to share very soon....
