My husband and I took our two children out to dinner last night to celebrate our anniversary. We left it up to the kids to choose the restaurant and they chose Friendly's.
I was a bit worried about going out to eat and finding induction friendly items especially since they don't serve breakfast 24 hours a day. Breakfast has been my safety net if we eat out as I know what I can have but having to find something that isn't eggs seemed like an impossible task.
Well let me tell you - Friendly's was very accomodating. I had the Cheddar Jack Chicken which was delicious. This is what normally comes with the dinner:
Two grilled chicken breasts smothered with a delicious combination of hickory-smoked bacon, tomatoes and melted Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses topped with scallions. Served with rice, garden vegetables and grilled garlic bread.
After ordering and telling the waiter to hold the rice as I wasn't able to have it, he asked me if I wanted a double order of garden veggies or if I would like a side of broccoli. I got the double order of garden veggies (I didn't eat the carrots) and my husband ate my garlic bread. The chicken breasts were really filling and the veggies were great.
Needless to say I've realized that you don't have to stick to just breakfast when dining out.... you can eat and it's real people food
. I'm sure there are other restaurants that are just as accomodating and it doesn't hurt to make friends with your waiter/waitress.
I also came home with a new chicken recipe so all in all it was a great anniversary dinner.
BTW - their ice cream menu list sugar free vanilla made with splenda and sugar free hot fudge. I guess I'll have to try that at a much later date!
