  • Do over?

I finished the official two weeks of induction a week ago today. But... even though I did pretty well, I want to start over. Do it for real. See, I incorporated a lot of foods which are usually frowned upon or forbidden during induction, like apples or carrots. I know I'm not supposed to eat them, but I was trying to accomodate my vegetarian lifestyle in with this one.

I am starting over as of right now, and starting clean. There are plenty of vegetables I can eat that are induction friendly, and I'll start eating nuts and other acceptable things. I feel like I could do a really good job if I start over, so I will.

It would be really helpful and super appreciated if someone could put up some meat-free, induction friendly food recipes, especially things I can take to school for lunch.

    Thanks, and happy low carbing!

    Re: Do over?

Congrats on your 11 pound loss.

You can continue Induction, but the results you got during your first 14 days are the results you should use for the metabolic resistance charts and figuring out how you wish to proceed with OWL etc.

2Big can explain this better, but you really can't "redo" Induction, in the sense of improving your 14 day results or in the sense of "starting with a clean slate" because your body has changed its metabolism.

        Re: Do over?

Wish i'd know you were a vegetarian earlier we have a topic up in the FAQ for vegetarians. Missy90 is our resident vegetarian Atkins expert. She did a great job losing eating that way. There should be a letter from Dr Atkins medical center about how he treated his pateints who were vegetarians. you get to add TVP and tofu to your induction as a protein sources but then you move to OWl if you are ready. since you are a vegetarian the first rung of OWL would be a great place for you to move to right now more yummy veggies.

Do you eat Bocca burgers? they are soy and induction legal for vegetarians. you can do fried tofu too.

Twilight, to do induction you do not have to eat meat, but your menu will have more variety if you are not a strict vegetarian. Do you eat eggs, cheese, or seafood, for instance - I know some vegans do, some don't at all, and some are in-between.

            Re: Do over?

I actually love Boca burgers. They're delicious.

I'm not very strict at all. I eat eggs and cheese and whatnot. Seafood, too.

I only really want to redo this because I still crave carbs. I had diet soda and such last time, so I want to try and cut that out.

            Thanks everyone.

              Re: Do over?

if you are still craving carbs look at the ingredients in the foods you are having and see if there are soime hidden carbs or sugars there youhaven't accounted for. also do you have a food journal with the W's answereds as in who what when where why and how you felft before during and after you eat and when those craivngs happen. I knoe it sounds like over kill but I was persfet atkins eating exercising drinking water losing weight in deep ketosis and still had cravings that should have been dead. turned out I had a food that triggered me that was legal cleery, a sweetner Splenda and an event eating with my younger sister. All three of those should not have done it but for me they did so i had to remove celery from my foods list not have spenda stuff and not eat with my younger sister. it took weeks to see the patterns emerge but they did and I was able to make it almost 700 days cheat free atkins eating.
Keep doing your Atkins move to OWl and give up your sodas and see what happens since the first change of OWL is just 5 net carbs more of those yummy induction veggies you should be safe to figure it out there and your body will be getting more micronutriants it needs since you are still growing into adult body.

                Re: Do over?

Since you are not having to give up eggs, cheese or seafood with your kind of vegetarianism, ther's no reason to stray from the allowed foods/drinks during your 2-week induction, Twilight.

You can get fats and protein from olive oil, mayo, avocado, olives, cheese seafood and eggs, and have 3 cups of assorted veggies from the 2 lists (2c salad veggies, 1C other), and you can eat them fresh or cooked (just be sure salad veggies you measure in raw state).

Cheese omelettes with veggies cooked in; fish/shellfish skillet dishes cooked with sauteed veggies and topped with parmesan; tuna salad with celery, mayo, sliced tomato; these just begin the possibilities.
