  • when did u notice weight lose?

    was wondering if anybody that made it thru induction noticed when they started losing the weight, was it when ketosis started?

    Does it happen easily like everyone says? I am so curious about what to expect from this point on, I already have appetie affected so I am wondering if I will notice after the first week or into the second?

    Weight loss is a 'symptom', if you will, of ketosis. So yes, it will happen when ketosis has started. You ought to see weight loss right away, though when it is noticeable in terms of visible results is hard to tell. As long as you are doing everything the way you're supposed to, that scale should start moving really soon!

      I noticed on day three of induction. I had dropped about two pounds. After a few days, it slows down a little, but the scale should keep moving.
      149.8/no weigh/ 119



      1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
      what the rungs mean to me:
      rung 1 - more veggies
      rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
      rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
      rung 4 - berries, melon
      rung 5 - wine -
      rung 6 - beans, hummus
      rung 7 - other fruits
      rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
      rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
      Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
      (on to pre-maintenance)

        I noticed after the first few weeks, my clothes were getting loose and I was getting a burst of energy.

        I started taking my measurements about a month after I started the plan and WOW, that was when it really began to get exciting. I measured 2 times a month and every time I was in shock that the numbers were getting smaller.

          it's funny but sometimes others will tell you before you even realize it! You can also tell by a huge amount of energy and your clothes becoming loose.

            Yep, when I started atkins, after I got over the flu part, I found myself with so much energy I was doing stuff I never did before like vollentarly walk around the block or clean the house with toothbrushes, etc.


            Date Started Atkins: 7/16/05 - Present day
            Currently in Maintenance

            SW: 185 lbs
            GW: 130 lbs
            CW: 129 lbs

              I think everyone is different....but make sure that you measure your success with AT LEAST the following 4 ways...there are lots of others, but these are the biggies
              1) the obvious: the scale
              2) take your measurements if you haven't already done so.
              3) take before pictures if you haven't already done so. You don't have to post them, but you'll want them for yourself to gauge your progress. You'll be AMAZED at the changes in as little as 6 weeks.
              4) your clothes. Try something on that's tight and watch over the next couple months to see how they get looser and looser as you go.

                thanks everyone you guys are truly amazing and such an inspiration for a newbie like myself. I have noticed that when I feel discouraged or want to cheat I get on here and read and educate myself with all of your knowledge. I have overcome alot with the help of all of you.

                  I've been at this 6 weeks and I've lost 21 lbs but I don't see or feel much of a difference? Is my weight loss good for a 6 week period or should I have seen a bigger loss?

                  I keep reading about people saying their clothes are getting bigger but I haven't really noticed anything like that. I also took pics and I don't see much of a difference. Maybe it's because I have so much to loose.
