its very true that you need to stay away from the low carb shakes during induction, i am restarting without the shakes today. I thought the slim fast low carb shakes would be ok cause they didnt have any sugar alcohols in them just splenda but i noticed when i typed it into fitday that it didnt have enough fat in it and i think thats why i kept crashing and would eat everything in site by the time i got home. so this time no shakes or bars or slimfast low carb snacks.

It's cause you read it and laugh and say "hahaha. there's only 200 calories in this meal vs. their 500 calorie meal so I'll use them and lose faster and laugh at all those fools". Then reality hits you. Congrats on losing the 11lbs so far!!27/f/5'10"

Do you mean the whey shakes I have been making when I really need something good and creamy is bad??? The one I make has a tables. of peanut butter, 1oz. cream cheese, 3 tablesp. heavy cream one teas. cocoa, teas. vanilla ,splenda ,but I use all natural sweetner I forgot what it is called. a scoop of whey protient powder, and 1cup of water with 6 cubes of ice. Is this bad??? I already had 1 today for breakfast . :{ PruI am a member of the treadmill trekkies challenge!:D

The best way to see if your whey shake gives you the 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs ratio we need for induction meals is to feed all the ingredients into www.fitday.com and see what the numbers say.
The 'protein' shakes you can buy have more protein content than we want, but you can add cream to make the ratios better.
I always use fitday to check what ratios will work out to before eating a planned new menu item just in case I mess up!!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Pru, if you are on induction, that shake would not be allowed.
If you're up through the nuts rung and the dairy rung then your shake is allowed, but not until then.~Joy

I make my own but am not sure what the ratios are. I usually have chocolate as it satisfies my chocoholic cravings.
1 tbsp whey protein powder
1/4 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
few drops vanilla essence
2 tablespoons cream
300 ml water
I cream all the ingredients except the wwater in a mixing jug until blended then add the water and beat with a hand mixer.
I am no good on fitday but this does satisfy me until lunchtime. I have it for breakfast about 3 times a week. Whey protein opwder is available in bulk from the health food shop, and these end up costing 30-35 cents a shake.
OK, I went to fitday and it is a bit puzzling. It says whey has no protein! Can anyone explain?Odille

Odille, if I remember correctly one gram of fat has 9 calories whereas one gram of protein has 4 calories and one gram of carbs has 4 calories.
So your shake would be a total of 338 calories [(24x9) + (4.6x4)+ (26x4)] with 64% fat/30.6% protein/5.4% carbs - about spot on unless I have made a big error in the maths!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
