  • Brandy new... I think!

Hello everyone! I'm 24 and a mommy of a beautiful little boy. I am starting Atkins today at 5'4 and 291 lbs. I know. I kind of lost myself freshman year of college and everything has gone downhill from there. Since last August I have gained 70 lbs due to medication I was taking, so now here I am at my heaviest and very very unhappy. I am also diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance. I've heard and read that Atkins works well with both of these disorders.
So here is my question, I've heard with each 'try' of Atkins it gets harder and harder to lose...I have tried Atkins in the past.. but I never get past day 4 ::hangs head:: Now, technically speaking does that mean I have really been on Atkins? *lol*

Jen, welcome!!! No, I wouldn't say that you've officially done Atkins and you shouldn't be affected by the problems second timers have. You're body really didn't have enough of a chance to switch over to fat-burning mode. So, stick to the induction religiously for 2 weeks & you'll have an amazing improvement. Don't forget to exercise either. You'll lose weight without exercise, but you'll feel a million times better with it. Good luck! You can do it.

      Jen,

I don't think four days makes you an Atkins person. Weight loss is different for each person. I am back after falling off the wagon and letting the wagon drag me along for a long time and I know this will work for me too. I have PCOS and take diabetic meds too. We are in this fight together. Welcome to the group.

welcome to ADBB remember the more tries a person has means the less personel control that person has. if you quit 50 times then the 51 will be just as hard as the others but you also know what is coming and hacve already given yourself permission to stop 50 times so you have a history of not following up with your Atkins commitments.

put all that nonsense out of your head cause you are you not them. Are you committed to making healthy food choices to improve your health and weight? are you committed to being an active daily exerciser? can you count to 20? can you read food labels both the ingredients and the nutritional label. Will you read dR ATKINS NEW DIET REVOLUTION 2002 edition? if so then you can do Atkins even if it takes several times for you to get it right.
