  • Restart?

I restarted Induction on Monday, because my Induction wasn't completely clean for those two weeks before this week. I was planning on just doing it another week. Today I've done very well, except for out of habit grabbing a dang Atkins bar off the shelf. Everything else has been fine. Drinking my water, not nibbling.

Although Monday and Tuesday, I had bars for b'Fast as well, before you guys brought it to my attention that I shouldn't use them on Induction.

I'm not having any cravings, so should I do another 2 week Induction or just do a one week Induction???

Last time I did Atkins, and started over, I ended up starting over again and again because I got bored and would nibble or eat something I really shouldn't have.

Would a one week clean Induction be enough to get me back on track before OWL???

(I only have about 15-20 lbs to lose, btw).

    Re: Restart?

You can "restart" in the sense you do Induction without the not recommended foods, but use the weight results from those first 14 days to figure out your metabolic resistance and how you are going to proceed with your Atkins.

You might not improve your 2 week weight loss with doing a "clean" Induction immediately after doing a not-so-clean one. In fact, you might not lose any weight due to the post-Induction mini-stall some people experience during the 3rd to 6th week on this Diet.

So if you want to "restart" and do it by the book. That's fine. Just don't expect to lose a greater amount of weight and don't use those results for your metabolic resistance.

      Re: Restart?

It sounds to me more like you are doing extended induction - which one week is fine so is two, then you move to OWL rung one and add more veggies. If you had "fallen off the wagon" as in pigged out on carbs at the end of your imperfect 2-wk induction, then restart might be a better way to go. If you induction was mostly clean, you could go to OWL now. What was it that you feel you should not have done that 2 weeks?

        Re: Restart?

I ate a tbsp of peanut butter nearly everyday and I was eating those Atkins B'Fast bars3-4 days out of the week before work. That was about all I ever did that was wrong. I was thinking of just adding extra veggies, like on rung 1 of OWL. Would that work?

          Re: Restart?

I'm surprised no one else has jumped in. But IMHO, I think with such a small amount to loose, taking time in OWL learnig how to eat the way that's best for your body is more important than starting over because if you kept carbs under 20 despite deviation from the book for the whole 2 weeks, you should be in ketosis, which is the main purpose of induuction phase.

            Re: Restart?

I agree with boonie stomper, start adding your extra 5 net carbs of your induction-type veggies and continue with the great OWL experiment.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
