Can someone tell me why I am still tired??? I am on day 6 and by mid afternoon I am exhausted. I need some pointers on what I can do. I am eating everything I am suppose to and staying away from the things I am not. Except for my Diet drinks (which I already asked about those in another post). I have so much energy in the morning (after I get over the initial wake up part) and then I just get drained. Help!!! I need something to energize me. I haven't started exercising yet...maybe that will help????

Re: Why am I still tired???
DEFINATELY!!!! I did atkins entire induction without excersise and felt horrible the whole way through. I did loose thought but after 2 weeks it started slowing to a halt. So I started doing it right and exercising. boy did it pick up then. My little mini stall broke and in 2 days i went down 6 lbs! Thing is...You have to exercise to get energy. The days I exercise, I feel kinda drained right after but an hour or 2 later I feel like I cant stop moving! Feels great! You are buring calories long after you stop exercising. Plus you dont wanna loose all that weight and be all flabby skin just hanging. You wont loose as much either by not working out. Why not get the most out of this diet? By the way, Like the book says, If your not exercising, your not doing atkins. Exercise also helps decrease my appetite, as well as all the other benefits. I would hate to spend a whole yr reaching my goal when I could do it in 6 months by doing it the right way (working out cardio and resistance).
Start small like just walking for 20 mins (or more even better) and see how you feel the rest of the day. You will be convinced!
By the way I am still not doing as I should. I have been kinda sick this week (still no excuse i guess) and not exercising but I am getting my butt in gear now! When i think about all the lbs I could be loosing but am not and its my own fault!Mindy

Re: Why am I still tired???
What kind of exercises are you doing? I have a treadmill but it's in the garage. I was going to bring it in the house but to be honest my husband says it's a really expensive coat rack...lol. I wanted it so bad...got it and never said I was going to use it so he figures I'm going to do the same this time I guess
I'm working on him though. I have tapes..I have the Biggest Loser, Tae-bo AND Windsor Pilates. Now I just need to get my motivation to get busy!!! Thanks for the info. I guess if I want to start "waking up" I better get on the ball!!!

Re: Why am I still tired???
I have tried a lot of different things, walking, jogging, power 90, some dance aerobics from the library, I am having a hard time sticking with something. I get bored of them so easily. I havent done power 90 since i did atkins last time back in 2005. I like that it has cardio and weight training and a seperate section just for abs. Im gonna pull it back out. I am really wanting to try turbo jam. I think anything that is fun would be motivating. I heard this is very fun and doesnt seem like a workout at all. Too expensive for me right now though. Think Im gonna buy one or two of the workouts from ebay.
I try and do lots of little things as well, like parking far from the store and walking more, walking to the library instead of driving (cause its only 5 blocks away!) I also wanna start walking to walmart when I need to go. I thought about just taking my back pack and walking/jogging when i need to go just for one or 2 things but Im so paranoid Ill look like one of those weirdos who are always walking up and down the street (cause i would have to walk down the 4 lane for a few) haha!
I'm actually looking for ideas myself. I tried the treadmill but it didnt suit me. I actually enjoyed using it and walked/jogged 2 miles the first time on, but after I stepped off, I felt dizzy and like I was still on the belt moving and couldnt stand upright after having something moving for so long under my feet. I guess my feet just belong on solid ground. Or would I have gotten used to that?Mindy

Re: Why am I still tired???
One thought: If you are keying in your foods you eat into FitDay/DietPower then check and see if there are any nutrients that you are not getting enough of. I've just recently noticed that I rarely get 100 percent of the RDA of potassium so I've started supplementing and it has made a world of difference. (I've also started a B-Complex too.) I've gone from feeling tired all the time to having more energy and zip.
FitDay (or DietPower) are not only tools to check your ratios, carbs and calories, but you can check your nutrients too. Look and see if there is anything you're not getting enough of.
P.S. Be sure to key in your vitamin pills too so you don't overdose on them.~Kat

Re: Why am I still tired???
Well I did Tae-bo...ohhh for about a DAY!!! That stuff is hard. I did my pilates for a good little while and I really liked it. I am going to try my biggest loser one. I have had it since January and do you think I have even looked at it...HA!!!
The treadmill is just boring but I try to keep headphones on and I time it by the songs. "Only 2 more songs and I'm done"
It's hard to saty focused. But I can't seem to get out on the street and run either...oh no no no!!! I am also too worried about looking like one of "those people"...hahaha.
I did join the October mileage challenge so I better break that treadmill out or get on the street...or I'm gonna FAIL!!!

Re: Why am I still tired???
Look in my siggie and there is a link to the supplements' forum here on the board.
I take:
Super B-Complex
Men's Multi-Vitamin (so I don't overdose on iron)
L-Glutamine
Co-Q10
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Potassium
Magnesium (PM Only)
Chromium Picolinate
Vit E
Vit C (AM & PM - totaling 2,000 mg)
I don't take calcium because from watching my nutrients I see that I get over 200 percent of the RDA per day. So, I figure I'm doing great on that with what I eat alone.~Kat

Re: Why am I still tired???
Hum...I didn't count them before but I take roughly 16 pills per day.
One each of everything and a few things I take more of like Vit C, Potassium, Chromium for a total of 16 pills per day.
Wow!
That is not all at one time, mind you.~Kat

Re: Why am I still tired???
Not all individual multi-vitamin pills are equal, nor are all individuals' vitamin (and other nutrient) needs. Your needs for particular nutrients can increase periodically as well as on a regular basis, depending on such things as what toxins, infections, medications, or medical conditions your body is having to deal with at the time, plus your general condition, exercise, age and sex factor in as well.
I vary the pills I take (on average, I review and make adjustments every 2 weeks) so that I'm optimally prepared for my present nutritional needs.
Currently, that's 1 high potency multi-antioxidant pill, 1 high potency B with additional metabolic enhancers, 2 Ginkgo, 2 ginseng, and 1 coral calcium daily, and as needed day-to-day, potassium, magnesium, and fiber.~Susan
