Help!! I’m going to a wedding this weekend and it’ll be the same day I end induction. I know that there’s going to be a LOT of tempting food including the cake which is one of my weaknesses. I know that I shouldn’t even be worried since the past ten days I’ve been cheat free—but the thought of everyone else indulging themselves in cake is enough to make me quiver..what should I do??

Re: Help!! Going to Wedding this weekend, what to do??
Keep your eye on the prize (i.e. a smaller, healthier you). Congrats on getting to the end of induction.
I would suggest that you eat something healthy at home just before going. That way you'll be less likely to binge out on carby hors d'ouevres or something. Stick to the meat and veggies that are served at dinner. Stay away from the cake and don't even allow yourself to think that a tiny piece is okay. You could undo all the hard work from the last two weeks. And avoid alcohol. It could stall you for days and days. My dh actually has more fun now when he doesn't drink at parties (he enjoys watching everyone else's inhibitions go downhill - lol) and he feels great the next morning.
You can stick to your woe and have a good time. And you'll feel so great the next day when you realize you can do it. Have a great time!Female, 46yrs, 5'3"

Re: Help!! Going to Wedding this weekend, what to do??
Call the bride or the hotel/restaurant and ask what's on the menu. From that you will be able to figure out what you can and cannot eat.
Before you go to the wedding make sure you eat a satisfying legal meal.
Bring legal snacks with you too: cheese sticks, pepperoni, etc.
Enlist a diet buddy to keep you accountable at the wedding.
Do other things besides eat: mingle with other guests, dance (every wedding has dancing), etc.
The cake: I doubt that the bride all the way at the head table will notice who eats it and who doesn't. She and the rest of the bridal party are way too busy and too distracted to think "Omigod! JTsBlackQueen isn't touching the cake. My feelings have been hurt beyond all repair because she's not eating it. Last time I'll ever invite her to my weddings!"
Personally, I look around at all the people who are eating it. My family are generally obese people, so seeing them stuff their faces with food makes me lose my appetite.~Megs~

JtsBlackqueen, I went to a wedding in late spring. The reception was held at a "banquet center" type deal. Anyhow, they booked a room that had mirror panelling for 1 wall. Believe me...talk about an appetite suppressant!~Megs~

Re: Help!! Going to Wedding this weekend, what to do??
Hi, I went to a wedding last Friday and managed to stay cheat free!
I dont know what time your wedding starts, mine was a late evening so I managed to go to the gym before hand, so that I felt extra healthy when I got there!!! Then I had a huge meal before I went, then I didn't feel like over indulging at the wedding! The hardest part for me was the pudding - a huge chocolate fountain - dont ask me how, but I managed to resist it!! I just thought of the outfit I had on, and how it would never have fitted if it wasnt for the diet!! I think not wanting to un-do all my good work for weeks helped too!
think thin!!

Re: Help!! Going to Wedding this weekend, what to do??
I had to do this not too long ago when my friends daughter got married on Labor day weekend. For me when I get busy I am not hungry. It is when I am sitting around that I eat out of boredom. So, luckily for me they were short a server that did not show and my friend asked me to help serve. So I was busy and did not want to eat. But, if I had since they had sandwich and veggie trays there I could have eaten the meat off the sandwich and some brocolli and cauliflower with the ranch dip and been just fine. I don't like most cakes so that didn't bother me too much to skip the cake. So you may want to stay busy visiting with the people you know and not focus just on the food.Cheryl
