has anyone else felt like when you're on Atkins the world is against you? I'm at my desk minding my own business enjoying my water when some of my coworkers come up and are giving away free breakfast today. I gave one look at the food--coffee, muffins, bagels--and i was like, "No, thank you."

"Are you sure?" they asked. "You can come back here if you changed your mind." "Are you sure?" I felt like screaming at them! THEN two more came up to me to make sure i 'didn't change my mind'...grrr those damn people and their damn bagels and damn muffins..i wanna chuck my eggs at em....

I think everyone feels that way at one point or the other. We had a member who used to counter the breakfast donut crowd by bringing in her Atkins-style breakfast: eggs, bacon or sausage, to work and eating it in full view of her co-workers.

I can imagine the impact of that.

Co-worker Stan: "Say do you want an everything bagel?"

You: "Nope. I brought my own breakfast."

Stan: "You sure? The bagels are really tasty."

You: "Thanks, but no thanks. I brought a Western omelette, made with fresh green and red peppers, onions and cheddar cheese. And for a side dish, I have a couple slices of bacon. I was going to bring ham, but I didn't have any. So I had to bring bacon instead. I saw some breakfast steaks at the supermarket a couple of days ago. I might have to stop by and pick up a couple for later this week."

        Re: grrrr....

LOL, I went through something like that this weekend when I went on a business trip and stayed at their home. They had bought TONS of fancy carbs (cakes, Godiva chocolates, pastries...). I had to say no again & again. I finally said, "I'm cutting down on carbs & junk foods because I feel better when I do." After I did, and stuck to my guns all weekend, they were impressed and considered doing it themselves. Just remember why your not eating the junk, feel sorry for those who are, and know the example you set may save someone's life one day if they choose to eat healthier because of you. Good job!

you guys definately don't want to be working with me that's for sure. i always grab a few items to fill up our refridgerator at work as snacks. over time we have accumulted tons of muffins, pop tarts, juices, cinnimon buns, soda, water all up for grabs. it makes me seem like the devil for just bringing in junk food and snacks everyday. do i ever give into temptation? i think about it sometimes but i never go through with cheating when i'm on my diet. don't think of them offering food to you as a bad thing, think of it as a way for you to build up your will power.

The red bit there djfmf, is exactly how I feel, I love it when people offer me stuff I shouldn't eat as I feel even stronger when i tell them "NO".

have you informed your coworkers as Dr Atkins tells us to about your Atkins program and recruited them to be part of your support network. it is very easy to avoid events like today when you have one or two of them as your support network casue they will jump in and help you get rid of those temptations.
