    Re: sugar/carb free jello?

Jello brand gelatin is sweetened with aspartame. According to Dr. Atkins:

We discourage the use of aspartame (marketed as NutraSweet and Equal) because of clinical observations that it slows weight loss in certain individuals.
So Jello brand gelatin or any other gelatin dessert sweetened with aspartame isn't allowed on this diet. However, Jolly Rancher brand gelatin dessert is sweetened with splenda. And if you do a search you will find the recipe to make your own gelatin dessert using unflavored gelatin and a legal sweetener.

The other caution I have is that you might want to reconsider feeding your sweet tooth during Induction. Many of us are sugar addicts and feeding our sweet tooth gives makes us crave more sugar. At the top of this forum there is a 'sticky' thread called "Addicted to sweets?" You might want to read the information in there about artificial sweeteners and how they might affect your insulin response.

Granted, some people will tell you they ate aspartame and had sugar free sweets all through their Atkins and lost weight. All I can say is that "your mileage might vary". Also I encourage you to re-read Chapter 12 and 13 in the book, because it gives you an idea how important it is to maximize your weight loss potential these first 14 days.

You also need to count toward your sweetner allowance.
