  • Help!!!!!

Someone please help........My first two weeks of induction went great, I lost 9 pounds and the ketosis strips were purple everyday. Then my TOM came and the scale went up two pounds which I can live with. I have decided to continue induction and wanted to add something sweet so I bought the Atkins Bars which state on the back they are appropriate for indiction....HOWEVER.....I am no longer in ketosis and the scale is not moving as it once was. Has anyone experienced this with the Atkins Bars? Also, does weight loss slow down after the initial water weight loss? I am eating the same exact menu I did the first two weeks and drink water like a fish! Any feedback would help ALOT! Thanks everyone

    Re: Help!!!!!

Oh yes, in fact we don't recommend bars or shakes at all because so many folks had trouble with them. BUT also, there does seem to be this period after induction when your body don't lose weight but instead your shed inches. Its very strange, but it does happen.
Just keep on and stay off the scales, try on a pair of those tight jeans. You might be in for a pleasant surprize

      Re: Help!!!!!

first congrats on the great job you did working your Atkins during your induction 14 days.

Bars used to have their own page on the Atkins.com site to help folk stalled by them get unstalled and basically it said to not eat them. so if a food has to have its own page on the Atkins site to cure stalls you know it is every problematic.

next yes scale weight will slow after the first 14 days bit there is a period right after induction that can last a few weeks where becaus of complicated biochemical reason your body will be burning off fat mass but adding fluid masses to your tissues and your scales will not show you that you are still shrinking. it happens on ANY weight loss plan so make friends with your tape measure and you can watch the inches of fat being burned off. you have lost 31% of what you needed to lose already fior somebnody like me that would be a whopping 46 pounds so know that even if you don't see whole pound losses on the scales you are getting healthier and smaller.

ALso you should not be eating the exact same menu since you have lost 9 pounds As we get smaller out bodies need less cals to do the exact same things so we adjust our portions to feed only our hunger and not a predetermined amount. that is one of the hardest things for newbies to learn feed only the hunger and stop even if you got food on the plate room in your belly and/or carbs in the budget.

        Re: Help!!!!!

Thanks! I have been reading tonight and after I posted this I read alot of old posts where alot of people had trouble with the bars. Lots of great and helpful info on the ADBB, I love being here! I don't know what I'd do without it. I also just made the decision to join the Weigh? NoWay! Challenge so Hopefully that will go well. And No more Atkins bars for me, at least not for a while. Thanks so much for your input

ugh, don't u hate it when the TOM comes up? ruins everything. LOL
I used to be like you..when I first started Atkins, I did the induction and felt like I could eat the Atkins bars. "They're Atkins, it's safe!" I thought. I quickly found out wrong. LOL Just skip the bars and stay positive, after it's over you'll get back on track. ;-)

Good job on your weight loss, Sersgirl! You have to remember that the Atkins company is trying to make money, and they want everyone to buy those bars, they could care less if it stalls people or not. Only Dr. Atkins cared about that. He would be disgusted with his company now, I am sure.

Regarding TOM, I think it is wise to stop weighing a week before it starts and not weigh again until its been over at least 3 days. No sense making yourself frustrated over retained water.

            No Weigh Until Christmas Day!!!
